Semi-creative ramblings on life and faith. What feeds your god? September 8, 2012 in Getting into the Word. They made a calf in Horeb. And worshiped a metal image. They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass. So, what does your god feed on? Semi-creative ramblings on life and faith. September 2, 2010 in Getting into the Word. Did I ever tell you how I ended up wrapped around a tree branch with kayak over my head? A large, horizontal, skull-cracking tree limb loomed in front of me. I managed to use my paddle and one of my legs to slow down on some friendlier small branches. But I thought, if I can just get my arms up over the nasty branch, with my head and chin over the top like I’m on the playground monkey bars, I can stop the kayak. We all...

A widow, a coin and a call | Beth's Musings

Semi-creative ramblings on life and faith. A widow, a coin and a call. May 30, 2011 in Getting into the Word. This morning Pastor Marilyn preached on Luke 15’s story of the widow who searched her home top and bottom for a lost coin. I doubt however that they are thinking of ways to blow up America. What would I be thinking? 8211;When can I take a bath? I’ve heard far, far too man...

Say What? | Beth's Musings

Semi-creative ramblings on life and faith. November 15, 2010 in Random Ramblings. Today we headed to the village of Cachiman, a four-hour drive east from Port-au-Prince. We were just minutes away from the Dominican border, so thankfully I was able to use my Spanish and speak directly with some FH staff, parents and community leaders who had some Spanish. Much of the time, I struggled to find the right words to convey a simple question: “How has your involvement with FH impacted your family? Getting into ...

Semi-creative ramblings on life and faith. Photo of the day. November 16, 2010 in Random Ramblings. I don’t have any profound thoughts for the daily Haiti blog today.
