Adventures In My Kitchen

Sunday, May 27, 2012. Hello there Blogosphere. I'm sorry I've been away. I've missed you horribly. My first loaf that wasn't thick and dense! Soft, fluffy, airy, bready goodness. The crust was the perfect golden - not too hard and crumbly, but not insipid and soft. Still warm, with a scrape of butter and some homemade apple and feijoa jam. Adventures In My Kitchen: February 2012

http://www.foodfromtez.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 25, 2012. Lazy Summer Sunday Arvo - Ha! So after I was finished with my plums around mid-day, I then sat and peered intently at the tomatoes on the windowsill, counter and table. I carefully measured out 1 kg of tomatoes and gleefully chuckled to myself. "I've made a significant dent! Ha, take THAT! A kilo of freshly picked tomatoes. So much for my dent! I love beautiful looking food - it looked so pretty. I popped it in the oven at 150 Celsius for about an hour. Using a slotted spoon,...

Adventures In My Kitchen: April 2012

http://www.foodfromtez.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, April 21, 2012. Back To Work Tomorrow = Less Feijoa Fun. I had to make up for the lack of feijoa-related activity yesterday, so I went wild. Recipe for a feijoa, ginger and coconut loaf (my love affair with ginger continues). The only thing I'd do differently next time is a touch. Less ginger (I used 2 tbsp - I'd use 1 1/2) or a heaped. Cup of coconut. I can't really taste the coconut, and the ginger is super strong (but I do like it! I made 6 mini loaves 1 almost loaf - the recipe makes a lot!

Adventures In My Kitchen: March 2012

http://www.foodfromtez.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 31, 2012. End Of The Summer Season. In New Zealand the seasons change on the first of the month, as opposed to the solstices or equinoxes, so we've been ensconced in autumn for a month now. Aside from the calendar heralding the change of seasons, the weather has also let us know (in no uncertain terms) that summer's over. but further to that, the summer produce is definitely done. First - the watermelon:. First, I whipped up some pesto, using some sad basil from the garden. It's neari...

Adventures In My Kitchen: Feijoa Frolic!

http://www.foodfromtez.blogspot.com/2012/04/feijoa-frolic.html

Monday, April 16, 2012. It's been so long since I've had a chance to sit down and write about my kitchen exploits. Sadly, the tomato season is over and I have no more (fresh) tomatoes with which to make my chutney. So now, I'm knee deep in feijoas. It also known as pineapple guava in the US and Mexico. Feijoas are a native fruit of South America, but one that has flourished in New Zealand and very. Plump, juicy and oh so yummy! Get some good, meaty feijoas! Scoop out the insides with a spoon. You nee...

perspective: Take A Photo, Mummy!

http://tez-perspective.blogspot.com/2015/05/take-photo-mummy.html

Gratitude At A Glance. Wednesday, 27 May 2015. Take A Photo, Mummy! Today I am so grateful for those words. I worked from home today and managed to finish all my report cards! So I bundled up walked to daycare to get Miss Two. As we walked home, she kept stopping to admire different things and saying, "Take a photo, Mummy! The first photo - of the clouds she thought were beautiful. A photo of the moon. She gets very excited when she sees the moon, especially in the daytime. I love it, Mummy!

Gratitude At A Glance. Thursday, 28 May 2015. I Wore A Yellow Dress Today. Because you are bound to have a good day in such a happy colour. Days like today are most important to practise gratitude. 1 A wonderful, wonderful co-worker turning around (while driving home) after I rang him to come help me change my flat tire. 2 An equally as wonderful co-worker seeing me at the side of the road and stopping to see if I was okay and jumping in to start changing my tire (he even got his pants dirty.).

Gratitude At A Glance. Tuesday, 9 June 2015. So I asked on my FB knitting page and a number of people have come back and volunteered to do hats for the children - some are doing socks and slippers too! I am humbled by the generosity of these gorgeous knitters I have never met. I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Me, Straight To Your Inbox. Thursday, 7 April 2016. Firstly, apologies about the delay with this post. Life has been a little crazy, with more downs than ups lately, but one thing has kept me going . Food! I don't know about you, but to me food is all about comfort and feeling like you are getting a big warm hug. One of my favourite comfort foods is pasta. I know carbs are evil (yada, yada, yada), but I love them and I'd rather be happy than hungry. Over the years I've made many different types of meatballs –. 1/4 onion, diced.
