Eat More Nutmeg: November 2010
http://eatmorenutmeg.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
My food adventures in the Nutmeg State, thereabouts, and far afield. Sunday, November 28, 2010. I’ve been thinking about my microwave lately. It’s tiny, old, and takes longer than most of us are used to to heat things up. But it’s special. When I moved here a year and a half ago, I asked my parents to see whether they still had my college microwave somewhere. I was spending money on a lot of other things in order to get settled and thought buying a new microwave was unnecessary. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

That's probably puzzling ...

Eat More Nutmeg: Beets!
http://eatmorenutmeg.blogspot.com/2009/10/beets.html
My food adventures in the Nutmeg State, thereabouts, and far afield. Sunday, October 4, 2009. I am so proud of my beets. Sure, they took quite a beating from our wet, wet summer. Lost a few good ones in the rains. Planted some others in a spot where they didn't get enough sun, as you can see from the moss growing on the north side of the house in the July 3 photo at left. But overall I think it was a pretty good first effort. I planted two types: Regular old Chicago hybrid beets. I couldn't be prouder.

(You may recall my attending 2008’s inaugural event. The day started off right with Rhode Island wine and cheese – Sakonnet Vineyards. And Narragansett Creamery – in the theater’s lobby. Great stuff! In Westerly in September!
