FOODSTER - Food at its oddest: SANTOL SISIG
http://foodster-j113.blogspot.com/2007/10/santol-sisig.html
Thursday, October 04, 2007. By Paola Zinnia T. Sager. Sisig is a Philippine dish made from parts of pig’s head and intestines and usually seasoned with kalamansi or chili peppers. But have you actually heard of sisig which is made from santol? I was amazed when she revealed that the sisig was made from santol. It is out of the ordinary cooking, but it tastes really great! The sour taste of the santol together with the spice of chili peppers made me drool! I even ate it without rice. What about the seeds?
FOODSTER - Food at its oddest: ANT “BAGOONG”
http://foodster-j113.blogspot.com/2007/10/ant-bagoong.html
Sunday, October 07, 2007. ANT “BAGOONG”. I really hate ants, their bite sucks, they make my hairs go up and they go eat and rumble all over my pot of rice. But their perseverance and the way they help each other won’t be denied. Those are the qualities that everyone will admire. Posted by RavMo Bloggers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This Blog is all about food and its oddity. Its transformation from traditional to the new form and the realm of outrageously unusual food. Prepare your guts and b...

Sunday, October 07, 2007. The Invented Food Series: Kapampangan Pork Sisig. By Tiffany Margaux Teofilo. So being a kapampangan, I am expected to make a hell of a sisig. The funny thing is- I think I do. ha! But the thing is it is not what you see being served on fancy restaurants, because this is how I cook when I just feel the craving for sisig. This is kapampangan sisig- tiffany style! 20 pcs. calamansi, squeezed. 2 pieces white onion, diced. Red chili to taste. Fish sauce, to taste. 5 put in the chili.

Saturday, September 29, 2007. By Charise C. Bautista. Have you tried the different flavors of polvoron like cashew, cookies 'n cream, or pinipig? How about crab polvoron? Actually, there's not much difference in taste between a regular, original flavored polvoron and the crab version. But, what makes it different is the aroma of crab in it. Here is how the polvoron is made:. 1 Sun dry cooked crab shell for one day. 2 Pulverize crab shell (make sure that it is very refined). Have a great snack! Posted by ...

http://foodster-j113.blogspot.com/2007/10/invented-food-series-tuna-shake-anyone.html
Sunday, October 07, 2007. The Invented Food Series: Tuna Shake Anyone? Recently, I was able to have time to relax just for a few hours, thanks to food, beverage and the company of friends. One of my favorite beverages are shakes. Any kind of fruit or vegetable shake would be right for me, so long as it is sweet. Last Saturday, I invited some of my college friends for dinner in Ridgewood Residence. I ordered some beef and a fruit shake. As I was playing the straw in my shake, I said, “. 1/2 clove of garlic.

Sunday, September 30, 2007. Cave as the source of life. By: Leslie Hayzel Tagala. 8220;We need the cave and the cave needs us.”. This is always the statement that echoes inside my mind, when I remember one tourist spot in. I do not know what kind of relationship it explains. Is it mutual or parasitic? Last September 23, I went to. I did not only go there to have some adventure, but also to clarify some things. 8220;Ma'am nililinis pa rin po namin ang cave at ginagamit namin iyong pera na ibinabayad ng mg...

Monday, December 21, 2009. At first, they told me the "Sup Tulang" (Bone Soup) is good so I ordered one. At first I though it's the normal Malay style of Beef Bone Soup. To my surprise, it's Pork Bone Soup instead and it's just RM2 per bowl. If you feel that soup alone is not filling enough, you can order their popular noodle soup with the same soup base. I tried it and found that it's not bad. The base is clear while tasty. 56359’ E 116 °. Links to this post. Tuesday, November 3, 2009. A Most of my pict...
Retracing our Food Steps in the U.S.
Thursday, November 29, 2007. A Literary Tour of Surya Nagar Farm. Planning meals became quite fun, because it was an adventure to learn how to use what was in season on the farm. However, this meant that one did not go out to the store to satisfy every little craving. But, who would grave a frozen dinner when one can pick fresh okra and eat it with a salad made from greens and tomatoes picked minutes ago? Overall, Surya Nagar was an amazing example of self-sufficient living. Granted, Lonnie had an ou...

Sunday, October 07, 2007. Coca-Cola and Deep Frying. I had my cousins as visitors last week from the United States of America. They are the so called "balikbayans". During lunch, I took the opportunity to ask what were their oddest foods in America? Some of them said a bunch of weird foods that they encountered in Texas and New York. However, I got interested with Kuya Philip's food trip in Dallas, Texas - Fried Coca-Cola? I searched through the Internet and came across the website, WFTV.com. For the res...

But in Sandringham there’s so much more – especially south Indian, Sri Lankan…. Bhel puri (Indian snacks). The first time I tried bhel puri was at the end of a long shift at an Asian trade fair in ...
