Leaf Birds - Srivi Kalyan

Mapping 'Ulat Bansi' 2012. My art is often a process than a product, a simple quiet celebration of the rhythms of life. I enjoy creating ‘form’, sometimes abstract, sometimes figurative. Each time I explore a new form, I traverse through sound, movement, poetry and space. Line, colour and texture, metaphor and symbol, layers and rhythm are my favourite tools. Create a free website.

Puffin's Book of Magic for eight year olds. A collection of short stories by several authors; My story "Grandpa's Boats" is featured in this collection. Writing fiction rejuvenates me. Through metaphors, I find myself walking through landscapes that teach, nurture and re-define the many meanings of living to me. Short stories are one of my favourite genres as are writing for children's books. I also enjoy writing novellas and small notes that take form in the confluence of poetry and narrative.

Media - Srivi Kalyan

It is amazing how short our time on this planet really is. And the vulnerability as well as tenacity of that 'time' lies in the fact that we don't know how long we really have. Media and Design are to me, tools to engage with this nature of time, intangible, fleeting, yet so full of potential! Whether it is a brand identity, a social poster, a book or the interiors of a place, I find that how we engage with it in the context of time, is a crucial element to understand. Writing - Srivi Kalyan

In words, I find lie our masks and our truths, our freedom and our bondage. And in writing, I find ways to unshackle myself from ideas and rediscover the core essentials of the human spirit. Which metaphor, which intensity, colour and shade of a particular word can convey the throbbing intensity of life and the infinite space in which we are constantly interacting, multiplying, evolving and dissolving? Through writing, I explore 'Truth'- naked, unmasked and subtle. Create a free website.

Installations - Srivi Kalyan

Mapping 'Ulat Bansi' 2012. Working with space is an intriguing experience. And depending on the material, space transforms idea and idea in turn shapes space. I occasionally enjoy exploring ideas through installations. A few images from three of my installation works. What are the subtle conversations that are taking place in the universe all the time, the abstract ones, that we barely notice. Using cut bamboo, I explored a series of conversations, abstract, vital, simple and unnoticed.

Poetry - Srivi Kalyan

How do I speak of this strange. Where all things are aligned. Leaf expanding into sky. Sky into infinite void. Earth pouring back into me. With the great solitude. What does it take? Some days, I wish, I lived on a planet where life doesn't exist, including me! What does it take to lose hope I wonder? That slow killing pain of many glass pieces. Or the numbness of their memories. Or feeling too much. What does it take I wonder. To just let it all go. To leave it be. To not want to get back to it tomorrow.
