http://threedollarsworth.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 23, 2006. And now, on with the countdown. No 5: Tree63 - The Answer To The Question. I've been listening to this CD non-stop for two weeks and I didn't want to stop! Turns out I like it a lot! For that matter, I think I'm liking most much that comes out of South Africa and Australia.it's unique, fresh, and able to take on mainstream music without sacrificing its message. (And Tree63 is from South Africa! And shortly after the band cuts out to just Ellis on the guitar playing a few reverbed h...

Marvelous Musings: August 2005
http://threedollarsworth.blogspot.com/2005_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2005. Ridin' the storm out! It was raining already Monday morning when I woke up. And blowing. Our part of town lost power at 11:15 or so. And, did I mention that is was blowing? I've not heard how much rain we got, but my friends tell me it was officially "a lot." And the wind was pretty consistent around 30 to 40mph, I think, with good gusts into the 60s. I'm used to blizzards on the wide open prairies, but this was nice. Friends, and a good family to house us. Many of my friends an...

Thursday, January 26, 2006. Why do we play what we want? Because now we're officially the best! Congrats to my new co-workers at JackFM, as today we were named Best Radio Station in Jackson, MS. (And to think that was BEFORE I came on board! The Jackson Free Press had people vote on a few categories of "Best Of" in Jackson, and we won the best station. (And our "cluster-mate," Rock 93.9, got second along with Best Radio Personality.). Here is the write-up from the Press. Posted by James @ 5:35 PM. Tom is...

Ten years ago I lost all need to read newspaper comic strips when Bill Watterson retired. With him went "Calvin and Hobbes," the best comic strip ever. A boy and his stuffed tiger. Sounds simple, you say? Http:/ www.slate.com/id/2129373/? To my friends and family, please put this 1,440-page, 23-pound hardback on my Christmas list. That and a Chicago Cubs license plate. Tony ...

Marvelous Musings: April 2006
http://threedollarsworth.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 27, 2006. No 6: Marc Broussard - Carencro. Two years ago, I was working at KSOU radio in Sioux Center, IA, preparing for a move to Jackson, MS. Even though we belonged to a music servicing group, Island Records still sent us a lot of singles and albums. The music director there often gives them the obligatory 10-second listen before he dumps them. Now picture "Carencro" from Marc Broussard. Who? Wasn't there a young white guy on the cover?
