Gather round and listen. I’ll tell you a story. Micah and his laden pack mule staggered into this crucible, looking for shelter, any shelter, from the cruel sun. They stopped in the shade of an overgrown fig tree. Micah unloaded the mule and gave him a drink of their hoarded water. Then he set his back against the tree and dozed. But there are some days when it’s just a pleasure to be up the mountain. The snow sparkles – sometimes even the air sparkles, and everything looks clean and new washed. These are the days when the sun shines after days of cloud or snow. When the snow cover is limited…. But when the snow is as poor as it has been this season, there is little point in heading in amongst the trees – you wouldn’t enjoy the experience. Sunrise through iced car windscreen. Other than that, we have ventured to the Flying Steamshovel for a meal out (excellent and varied burgers and a huge choice of draught beers), partly because the guy who lives in our basement is one of the bar managers. There aren’t very many places to eat out but all those we have been to have been good value. The beer and company was fun too. I’m looking forward to the next gig in February. January 28, 2015.
