Wednesday, 19 August 2009. Posted by Stuart Brady. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Stumbling and Mumbling: Larry Summers and the role of economics. I have size ten feet. This is a biological fact which I cannot change. In some contexts, it’s of utmost importance, such as in a shoe shop. In other contex. A blog from the back room. I can’t vote for Corbyn. I won’t leave the Labour party. A Big Block of Cheese*.

Dunford Daily: Yes we can! But through party politics?
http://dunforddaily.blogspot.com/2008/11/yes-we-can-but-through-party-politics.html
Thursday, 20 November 2008. But through party politics? Two nights, two very different meetings. I think that one may represent the past and the other the future, and this poses political parties, especially the Labour Party a difficult challenge. Last night was my Constituency Labour Party General Council (or CLP. To those of you into that type of thing). We had a speaker from the Labour party National Executive Committee (the " NEC. Who referred to a desire within the party hierarchy. A reformed convic...

Dunford Daily: We need to wake up to reality to ensure that Copenhagen is not Doha MK II
http://dunforddaily.blogspot.com/2008/12/we-need-to-wake-up-to-reality-to-ensure.html
Monday, 8 December 2008. We need to wake up to reality to ensure that Copenhagen is not Doha MK II. Just wrote the below, not sure what I'm going to do with it. Probably needs a redraft and then I may use it at work if i can,. but feel free to give me your thoughts. The globe is faced with great change and profound challenges. Dealing with the challenges, such as climate change, needs us to wake up to the changes that have irrevocably changed the global political landscape. However, while ostensibly c...

Dunford Daily: October 2008
http://dunforddaily.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 20 October 2008. Serious economic times, bring a need for a fiscal reality check and some serious revenue generation innovation. Rhetoric great, delivery poor. That would be the best way to sum up our approach to the major global crises that are unfolding around us. Whether it be follow through on the UN Milllenium Development Goals, our approach to global climate change, or attempts to Europeanise or Globalise financial market regulation - the report card would say could do a lot better! Breakin...

Labour MP for Erith and Thamesmead. A pretty normal commute. Posted on February 03, 2011 by Teresa Pearce. Tonight I left the office got tube to Embankment and I got to Charing Cross at about 18.35 hoping to go home. Yes I know…. Me and my crazy dreams eh? On the board the 18.48 had delayed next to it so I went to the help desk to ask if there was “a problem” on my line. I could have gone to London Bridge to get a train on Cannon Street line but I believed her. Yes I know how foolish that sounds now.

Any of you who have read Dickens or any history of Victorian London will know that before 1891 when it became law for education to be provided free to children that only the children of wealthy families were properly schooled although there were some “bursaries” provided to a handful of suitable young men from poor backgrounds to attend the fee paying schools. Dunford Daily: December 2008
http://dunforddaily.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 20 December 2008. California looks like it could rectify the tyrany of the homophobic majority; we should all learn a lesson on the shortcomings of direct democracy. The Californian Attorney General has come out urging a repeal of proposition 8. This case shows how incredibly dangerous referenda. In our country the recent referendum in Manchester that saw the congestion charge proposal emphatically rejected showed how policies that require some at first difficult behaviour change but will resul...
