The first draft of anything is shit. — Ernest Hemingway. Stooge Reviews #3: Men in Black. Was a 1934 melodrama starring Clark Gable as a devoted doctor with a society wife who can't understand his commitment to his patients. The movie caused a stir because Gable has an affair with a nurse, and later there's a scene implying abortion. Later in 1934, the Hays Code would come into effect, and Hollywood would self-censor films like Men in White. For the next thirty years. Details below the jump. Also see my ...

The first draft of anything is shit. — Ernest Hemingway. Finally finished Draft 10 and sent it away for evaluation. Now it's in limbo for at least a couple weeks, but at least it out of my hair. How to be a Braves troll in these difficult times. Do you slink off into the shadows to lurk until the Braves are good again, whenever that happens to be? Do you sheepishly admit you underestimated the Phillies? No, of course not. You keep right on trolling. Who cares if your team shit itself and died? D The Brav...

X-Ray Blues: November 2007
http://x-rayblues.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
The first draft of anything is shit. — Ernest Hemingway. October was a bad month. Dead prose, dull scenes, characters acting like they'd just come down with Idiot Plot. So it got axed. Where does that leave me now? Also added is a prologue (about half the length of a normal chapter), set in Philadelphia the day the Dominion arrives. I wrote it expressly to tie the main story to the Toliman ending (shh! Don't tell Metatwaddle what that means! Between that and the Spirit of Halifax. Will I make 23 November?

Page Highly recommended if you're looking for realistic Mandarin ship names. Also, she's friendly and helpful over e-mail. A good resource to bookmark. (Thanks also to Surlethe, who helped me find the proper characters for Taifeng. I'd like to keep this slot. I also think Bounty is perfect for this job- I've read some of his criti...

The first draft of anything is shit. — Ernest Hemingway. Finally finished Draft 10 and sent it away for evaluation. Now it's in limbo for at least a couple weeks, but at least it out of my hair. I know this is probably an odd comment, but I guess its more or less appropriate to put here - how would I go about meeting sci-fi writing groups online, or having an experience sci-fi author read over any stories Ive written to see if its suitable for publication and if publishers would be interested? One thing ...
