A Compendium of Food Thoughts. Eating Barcelona – Part 1. Food Journey Through Madrid, San Sebastian, and Paris →. Eating Barcelona Pt. 2 – Mosquito. As we turned onto one of the many winding paths of “El Born”, something hit us! It was the subtle aroma of lemongrass and thai basil dancing a slow dance towards us. We followed the smell towards a small crowd that had begun to converge around a glass door leading into “. 8220;, Barcelona’s go to place for Asian inspired tapas. There is no doubt that Mosqui...

Tres Leches – A brief history | Forks & Sporks
https://forksandsporks.wordpress.com/2014/11/03/tres-leches-a-brief-history
A Compendium of Food Thoughts. Eating Barcelona – Part 1 →. Tres Leches – A brief history. Being the self-described foodie and aspiring chef that I am, I could not accept that the very “Mexican” pastel de tres leches that I grew up eating in my hometown of El Paso, Texas came from within a box of conveniently premixed yellow cake mix. I was baking a tres leches for my very own going away party at work. Yes I did this by choice and with a very enthusiastic disposition). Theory of Origin #1. If you want to...

The Daydream Believer Show. Booksmusic.beauty.entertainment.life. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane [2006]. By the daydream believer. Once, in a house on Egypt Street, there lived a china rabbit named Edward Tulane. The rabbit was very pleased with himself, and for good reason: he was owned by a girl named Abilene, who treated him with the utmost care and adored him completely. And then, one day, he was lost. The real reason for acquiring a copy of this book has something to do with my obsession for.

Raya Sun | project vida

Notes on my intentional life. Author Archives: Raya Sun. So yes, I have not yet learned how to crop pictures from instagram here. I quit Facebook in July. I got tired of all the useless comments and it started to make my heard hurt. So I decided to take a social media fast, excluding Yelp and Instagram of course. I found out that life without Facebook is really quite nice, and so I have never really returned. I am trying to remember what people did prior to the explosion of SBUX. I think we just work...

Ugh | project vida
https://projectvidadotcom.wordpress.com/2013/07/19/ugh
Notes on my intentional life. I decided to take a media fast. I’m so over facebook right now with all the comments about the Trayvon Martin verdit. All the ugly is coming out, and it’s not doing anything but making my head hurt. Sure I’m happy the conversation is happening. . .I just wish there could be sensibilty in it all. That’s all I want is some reasoning. Can we just reason? So I learned several things during this trip:. This is the history of my birthplace and the place I spent my formative years&...

Me and sage | project vida
https://projectvidadotcom.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/me-and-sage
Notes on my intentional life. It happened again today. First time in four years. I checked into a hotel. Got somewhat settled, noticed a strong vibe, and had to check out after an hour of trying to convince myself the room is fine and I need to get over it. Besides, who wants to pack up all the crap to move? I didn’t even explain anything to the dude at the front desk. I just called a different hotel and got the hell out. And today, I kept telling myself to just chill, everything is fine. And after a...

Cafe Gratitude | project vida
https://projectvidadotcom.wordpress.com/2012/06/13/cafe-gratitude
Notes on my intentional life. I had the most extraordinary experience today at a Kansas City restaurant. It’s so much more than a restaurant. I’ve not experienced anyplace quite like it, and wrote a Yelp review, which I decided to post here as well. Operating on maybe 4 hours of sleep, and frustrated I could not find the place after circling around several times, and then having a similar frustration with finding a legal parking space, and oh, almost forgot–. So, my review of Cafe Gratitude is written in...

What are you? | project vida
https://projectvidadotcom.wordpress.com/2013/05/14/what-are-you
Notes on my intentional life. I mean, I thought it was quite obvious I’m Black American, but I guess not. It is now a long running joke with me and my friends about my questionable ethnicity. This seriously has gone on for many years. What I find so intriguing about this phenomenon is that usually there is no segue into the question. No conversation connectors that might make asking this question logical. 8211;I can’t tell.”. A woman next to me says, ” You look familiar. What are you? As far as my nation...

Forks N' Scalpels
Forks and scalpels give you better food orgasms. Trust me, I am a doctor. Wow, it's been a long hiatus! Too bad, there's been a little something called "residency application" that got in the way. But I am now back in action, and determined to try as many places as possible before graduation, just in case I will be doing my internship outside of the Big Apple. All in all, it was a pretty good experience. I didn't get to try Baohaus' signature Chairman Bao. Braised all natural Berkshire pork belly,. Serve...

Forks and Spoons | A couple of guys who like to cook!
A More Elegant Deviled Egg: Deviled Eggs with Tarragon. July 25, 2015. You can’t have Easter brunch without eggs, specifically my favorite egg dish: deviled eggs! I wanted something different than the typical kind you find at a gathering in the American South. After tasting this, I found that I love this a lot more than the traditional recipe! 6 hard-boiled eggs (boil a couple more in case they don’t look so nice after you peel them). 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil. 1 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard.

Forks and Straws | My journey towards a whole foods lifestyle
My journey towards a whole foods lifestyle. A Tea lover’s dream (Afternoon Tea at the Biltmore). I don’t personally have a preference of any brand of tea, but I am particular about the ingredients in my tea.
