A(nother) Year in Seattle's Gardens. A Year in Seattle Gardens. Soil Temperature Chart – begun January 2014. January 27, 2014. I got a new toy – a soil thermometer. It’s a relatively cheap, low tech (non-digital) thermometer but I’m still very excited by it. I opened it and immediately went out to check out the garden beds – 46F. Hmm.…. Read more →. A(nother) Year in Seattle's Gardens. A Year in Seattle Gardens. April – the tree peonies aren’t doing it for me. April 20, 2015. That’s a truly bad sign. Plus, the flower color isn’t what I thought it was going to be – so I’m sentencing it to purgatory in the semi-shady, this-is-where-things-go-to-wait-until-I-find-the-right-place-for-them (or they die) bed. A(nother) Year in Seattle's Gardens. A Year in Seattle Gardens. November–Salvia, still goin’. November 24, 2015. This salvia (looks like a Salvia greggii cv to me or it could be S. microphylla or a cross between the two) is the woodiest old S. greggii (or one of its close kin) that I’ve ever seen. I took…. Creating Paradise: July 2014

Chronicles of Gardening, Cooking, Living in Comox with M. and Tessa (our Pudelpointer). Gardening, Cooking, Living in Comox with Tessa. Saturday, July 5, 2014. Today, despite the rainy weather, I went hunting for a zinc based lip treatment so I can stop burning my lips. I already have one sun spot on my lip and get sores that no SPF lip balm I have tried will prevent. I came home and decided to try blending one of my favourite winter lipsticks in more-or-less equal portions of zinc creme. Fat of the Land.

A(nother) Year in Seattle's Gardens. A Year in Seattle Gardens. October- unfortunate examples of plantus rectilinearis. October 23, 2015. Outside a Whole Foods in Seattle, I saw these plants. 039;workings out' in history. Chiefs demand Boundary Maps. October 5, 2013. New historical loops and reorganising of thoughts as I discovered this newspaper article during my last week in Zambia. In a plea for means to avoid violence over rights to increasingly valuable territory, Chief Phikamalaza claimed, “the best solution would be for Government to very quickly provide us with maps so that we can put an end to those disputes” (Times of Zambia. 16th September, 2013).
