PAUL McNULTY became interested in instrument building after studying music at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. He studied piano technology in Boston and earned guild qualification as a tuning examiner. The broadening experience has made more assured our typical production of earlier, Viennese models. The resources for undertaking large, complicated projects have enabled us confidently to meet sudden requests for the smaller pianos, including Graf, Fritz, Stein and Walter. Back to previous page.

I have known McNulty for many years, but only recently was able to get one of his pianos for our University. The reason is quite simple - whenever I had any kind of problem with any fortepiano I owned from another builder, Paul would come and adjust and voice and regulate it so well that there was no need to change it! The Chopin project is highlighting the Pleyel piano. Which was specially produced for the Warsaw chamber opera by Paul McNulty. The Chopin festival will focus on Chopin's works for piano with orchestra. The orchestra has specially commissioned early Romantic winds, horns and bows at a'= 440hz for this project, which heralds a unique effort to recreate most faithfully the performing resources of this period. The opening concert is on 28/9 in Royal Castle in Warsaw, with leading soloist V.Sofronitsky.
