Our ambition is to. At least double the availability of a 'relaxation' period for carers. Equip the nurses and homes with the appropriate specialist medical equipment. Provide suitable sensory equipment / toys for those children who can benefit from them. Enable the carers to relax with others who have similar problems so that they can share experiences and realise that they are not alone. Support the siblings of the sick children in any way we can for they are frequently the 'forgotten ones'.

Our group was formed to facilitate the support of children and families suffering from Cockayne syndrome (CS). Our group consists of CS sufferers, their parents and siblings, their extended families, family friends, representatives from medical disciplines, non-medical therapists and other interested parties. Helen and Douglas House. Helen House opened in 1982 as the world's first children's hospice. Douglas House opened in 2004 specifically for young adults aged 16-35. Helen and Douglas House.
