Distant Thoughts: A flight in the Diamond Star

http://pursglove.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-flight-in-diamond-star.html

Thursday, 23 July 2015. A flight in the Diamond Star. Sat at the end of runway 04 at Welshpool, Mid-Wales Airport with the engine at temperature and the systems on, heading for IWM Cosford Air Museum. The Diamond Star DA40 has a steep takeoff climb on full power. Quick to altitude is good in the Welsh hills, where a shift in valleys can mean a significant change in weather and flying conditions. The Star is quite a stable small aircraft. And rotate to make main wheel contact with the runway, throttle off.

Distant Thoughts: A treat at Duxford

http://pursglove.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-treat-at-duxford.html

Tuesday, 30 June 2015. A treat at Duxford. As a birthday treat, Rosie took me to IWM Duxford to see the changes in the collections. The American Hanger is being refurbished and many of the aircraft are housed in different locations, including some of the previously suspended aircraft being seen standing on the ground. Whilst we were there, the PBN Catalina was in for a tidy up and wash down ready for the air display season. The ground crew were daft enough to pose for me here. Out at the end of the taxiw...

Distant Thoughts: Fox

http://pursglove.blogspot.com/2015/07/vixen.html

Saturday, 11 July 2015. This morning when I awoke and looked out of the bedroom window, there was a large old dog fox on the top lawn. Rosie picked up her camera and took a snap through the glass. Well, a few minutes later we saw this young fox on our patch. Initially trotting past the pond. Eating a few bugs and slugs from the flower beds the sitting on the new path. Now that the gooseberries are picked and pruned, there is clearly fox attractive food in the bed. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Distant Thoughts: Out and about

http://pursglove.blogspot.com/2015/07/out-and-about.html

Friday, 31 July 2015. There has been a significant amount of fox poo on our garden recently. The dog foxes are marking territorial boundaries and leaving calling cards. This fellow was caught in the act at 10:50pm, the camera shake shows in the dark. Of course, If I clean up the mess, they are bound to leave more markers, so I have left the most recent poo and the additional stuff has now stopped being added. Fish - What fish! Distant Thoughts: Summer food is coming on

http://pursglove.blogspot.com/2015/06/summer-food-is-coming-on.html

Saturday, 27 June 2015. Summer food is coming on. The greenhouse is looking tidy today and the plants, which were grown from seed, are starting to show flowers and fruits. Some of the courgettes have already been eaten, the tomatoes are starting to produce green fruits and the lettuce will soon be big enough to pick. Aubergine and peppers are still quite immature, but they will grow on when the weather warms up a bit more. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Robert Howards Park Views. Corners of My Mind.

Distant Thoughts: Peak Wildlife Park

http://pursglove.blogspot.com/2015/07/peak-wildlife-park.html

Monday, 6 July 2015. The old Blackbrook Zoo site at Winkhill has been purchased and a redevelopment has started to turn it back to profit. The initial opening has produced a visit that allows you to feed and stroke Wallabies, see Penguins close up and walk amongst Lemurs, amongst other things. I particularly liked the idea of walking with Lemurs. The Black and White Ruffed Lemur is the big boy about town (Actually, the park has a pair of females) who tend to dominate the smaller lemurs. What a treat this...

Distant Thoughts: By the Canal

http://pursglove.blogspot.com/2015/06/by-canal.html

Sunday, 21 June 2015. Today, we went for a walk at Consal Country Park, strolling down by the canal. Rosie suggested that we go to the dipping pond and see if we could see some damselflies. This is the Large Red Damselfly ( Pyrrhosoma nymphula. Which is quite small compared to some species. It has an unusual undulating flight and rests with its wings partly extended. This is the Common Blue Damselfly ( Enallagma cyathigerum. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Robert Howards Park Views. Corners of My Mind.
