Saturday, August 2, 2014. What a fabulous time we had in Connecticut. We were lucky to have two beautiful days while staying at the Raymond's cottage on Long Island Sound. Our cousin Cecily spent the first day with us. We had fun hearing about her first year in New York City. She is finding all kinds of fun ways to stay busy . for free. So much going on, so close, it's very different than home. It was sunny with just enough wind to keep us all cool so we could stay out all day talking and walking.

Thursday, July 31, 2014. We just finished our two day trip to Bar Harbor, Maine. What an amazing place! We watched the sunset and the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on the Eastern Seaboard (only 1400 feet, maybe the same as little Si in North Bend). It was kind of unnerving for us West Coasters to watch the sunrise over the ocean- sort of got us off balance. The coast line of this area was so different from our own. Friday, July 25, 2014. An All About Anne Day. Today was an "All About Anne Day"! One block down from where we are staying is the town of "Avonlea" where Anne grew up. Obviously a make believe city set up to depict what it would have been like-but once you are there, it feels so real. The day started off with the folks from Avonlea greeting us at the train station. Saturday, July 26, 2014. Running The Costco Gauntlet. Shopping at Costco can be fun. We can shop and eat what amounts to a sample plate of appetizers during happy hour. (Costco in Tijuana, Mexico served Tequila samples - I thought I heard since the privatization of liquor sales, this happens here in the U.S. as well.) Saturdays are especially delicious. I brought my son with me and told him, "this is lunch so eat up! The trick now is to live and learn and not go whole hog the next time. We will see.

Sunday, June 29, 2014. On day two I weighed in at 259. That is a four pound loss overnight. I know I didn't eat enough food, but I was working and didn't plan well so I truly deserved to lose those four pounds. Woe is me. Anyway, on the second day of my story, the future seemed so bright. I was going to eat my serving sizes and for sure eat as close to my calorie ceiling as I could. I intend to keep my food intake between 1800 and 2000. I am very busy during the week, logging my food intake on Lose It!
