http://fourstorymistake.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
A blog with mini-reviews of children's books; old and new, out-of-print and fresh-off-the-press. Monday, January 26, 2009. I was suffering from a rather nasty bout with the flu when a kind friend brought home . 160;to distract me from my ills. I doubt he could have chosen a better book to take me away from my troubles completely! I knew I would love this story, having loved . So well. Elise Broach's characters are just so marvelous! I also loved that Dürer was the featured artist in this book! 160;...

Yes, yes, I realize that this book won numerous awards last. Year so this review is a bit behind the times. But the book was recently recommended to me by a very enthusiastic 12-year-old so I had to pick it up. The Invention of Hugo Cabret. The picture book (graphic novel? Any books you would like to see as hybrids? The invention of hugo cabret.
Four Story Mistake: February 2010
http://fourstorymistake.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
A blog with mini-reviews of children's books; old and new, out-of-print and fresh-off-the-press. Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow. This absurdly cold weather has made me alternately long for stories of heat and sun for contrast and those in frigid settings, possibly to make the weather seem less wearying and more romantic. So I reread. Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow. A perfectly freezing tale that fits the cold mood. It is a gorgeous retelling of the Nordic fairy tale,. This book is s...

A blog with mini-reviews of children's books; old and new, out-of-print and fresh-off-the-press. Thursday, October 22, 2009. Long time, no see! Actually, in my case, it's a bit of case of never-seen. You see, this is my sister's blog and she cordially invited me to join in the fun! I think I should preface this review with a loving nod to my sister's flawless taste in books. Practically everything I've read was recommended by her (often on this blog! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
Four Story Mistake: The Thirteenth Princess
http://fourstorymistake.blogspot.com/2011/05/thirteenth-princess.html
A blog with mini-reviews of children's books; old and new, out-of-print and fresh-off-the-press. Sunday, May 8, 2011. Is it appropriate to just hop right into a review after taking a break for almost a year? Is a retelling of the "Twelve Dancing Princesses" only in this tale, there were actually thirteen. I've read many, many. Humorous (Goose Chase),. Philosophical ( Princess Ben). Or historic ( The Perilous Gard). Twist, a nice, old-fashioned, maybe even a bit predictable fairy tale is enjoyable and, be...

Book Town: DYING TO MEET YOU By Kate Klise
http://book-town.blogspot.com/2011/10/dying-to-meet-you-by-kate-klise.html
Sunday, October 16, 2011. DYING TO MEET YOU By Kate Klise. This book might just be letters and newspapers, but it is one of the most crazy and scary stories combined. The characters are the ghost Olive, C. Spence, Seymour Hope and Iggy. Can a ghost and a scary writer take care of a little orphan and still write? The expression and description was awesome. The pictures are also pretty awesome. And don't forget- it was a 2011 Nutmeg Award nominee! Labels: Dying to Meet You. November 12, 2011 at 8:05 AM.
Book Town: March 2013

Saturday, March 30, 2013. WONDER by R.J. Palacio. I love this book. It is heartwarming and teaches you that it is great to choose kindness (kind of the book's jingle). This book is about a 5th grade boy with a damaged face who starts school after being home schooled for many years. It is hilarious and a great read. In fact, the town of Fairfield, CT has a "One Book, One Town" program, where they pick a great book for the year- and this is their choice! Labels: R.J. Palacio. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Friday, April 13, 2012. A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS by Lemony Snicket. My next book to review is the whole series of A Series of Unfortunate Events. This is an awesome series about orphans who experience lots of unfortunate events, mostly because of a guy named Count Olaf. The suspense and planning in this 13-book series is awesome, and will keep you reading. In fact, the first three books are out in a movie. The narrator is awesome and so is the series. Book Town: MOON OVER MANIFEST By Clare Vanderpool
http://book-town.blogspot.com/2012/08/moon-over-manifest-by-clare-vanderpool.html
Thursday, August 23, 2012. MOON OVER MANIFEST By Clare Vanderpool. This was a great book. It felt like you were going back in time, while kinda having a cool adventure with this little girl. She goes into a town that her father grew up in, to learn more about him. And learns more than she expected to. This twisting tale includes friendship, adventure and sadness. I'm not the only one who thinks this is a great book, as it was a Nutmeg Award winner! March 30, 2013 at 9:33 AM. Websites You Can Visit. The R...

Monday, April 1, 2013. THE WITCHES by Rohald Dahl. Roald Dahl, as we all know, is a wonderful book writer. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was, in fact, written by him. This suspenseful (in a kid way) book is funny, gross and adventurous. I loved it and thought it was so cool, with funny maps and diagrams added in. This is such a fun, easy, simple book. I love it and think you should read it! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Please check out my little brother's movie blog! Websites You Can Visit. Dying to M...

Four Story Mistake
A blog with mini-reviews of children's books; old and new, out-of-print and fresh-off-the-press. Sunday, May 22, 2011. I've been wanting to read this book for a while. I saw it at the bookstore and, after reading the back, instantly added the book to my to-read list. It took me a while to get to it, unfortunately. But, I finally did and what a treat! The book is written by the charming E.D. Baker of The Frog Princess. Fame I always like a good take on the Brier Rose tale and this one was fantastic. I am ...
