Women In American History. Introductory blog. (CSUEB). Next Post →. Reflection on Women in the 1950’s. Now, on gender roles: women having to be stay at home moms/wives….that’s crazy. If women decided to work, they were seen as selfish because they weren’t staying at home cooking and cleaning the days away! Women were meant to get married, have kids, stay at home and cook/clean all day. I don’t know what else to say to that. I’m thankful that in present-day America, it’s different.
