Thursday, June 21, 2012. Julia's eleventh month has come and gone.and we are on our way to birthday time! I'm having fun planning a little family get together to celebrate our daughter's first year of life. And so far, I'm living my new mantra as I mentioned in a previous post, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened! On her face. So fun! She's also learned how to crawl up the stairs, although she is pretty cautious about it. So much so that we haven't even put the safety gates up yet!

Thursday, January 24, 2013. The first, and hopefully not last, snow day of 2013! We got about 1-2 inches on Thursday afternoon. The boys could hardly wait for it to start accumulating before they got out in it, pelting each other with wet snowballs and getting completely soaked. School was cancelled the next day. By then, an icy crust had formed on top, which was perfect for sledding down our driveway with the new saucer sleds that Santa had brought this year. But it made for a couple of hours of good fun.

Sunday, June 2, 2013. In my last post, which highlighted the events of our spring, I somehow completely forgot to include our camping trip! Friday evening wasn't bad. We and the Meases managed to get our tents and tarps up without any problems. Amy graciously made taco soup for everyone for dinner.which was soooo nice! And delish. Michael and Nat managed to get a campfire going in between sprinkles and the kids were able to make a batch of s'mores. What camping trip is complete without those? Seriously, ...

One of Julia's favorite things to do this month is what I'm calling "rubber lips," where she strums her lips with her fingers and makes "b b b b" sounds. Thursday, August 29, 2013. Life's A Beach.for a week or so. Sunday, June 23. Left around 6:30 am for North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Stopped for breakfast at Hardee's and lunch at a Schlotzky's Deli along the way, arriving at our destination mid-afternoon. Leading up to our trip, every time anyone would say "beach" or "ocean," Julia would say, "Fun! Monday, June 24. Very loud. Different colors.". Tuesday, June 24. Wednesday, June 25. Monday, July 30, 2012. You Are Our Sunshine. We celebrated Julia's first birthday with a family party on Saturday, July 14. The theme was "You Are Our Sunshine! I chose that because one of Julia's favorite books is a board book version of the song, "You Are My Sunshine." So I took it and ran with it. I decorated with yellow and orange, made a sunshine cake, etc. It was fun! I got lots of good ideas from Pinterest, and even came up with a few of my own. I made this and will hang it in Julia's room soon.

Sunday, January 14, 2018. I wrote, once, that every season has a smell. I still believe it. If I were to characterize the last few months in smells, it would be such a whirlwind. There would be whiffs of bagels from the business school and the musty smell of my Sensei's office. I would smell paper and eraser shavings.sweaty running clothes and a whole lot of coffee. Constant coffee, actually. To be quite honest, I probably didn't stop as much as I should have to smell them. That's not true, of course.
