Lizards

Tuesday, 19 May 2009. After Studying landscapes I took some of the ideas and experimented with layering glass to create perspective, I went on to use multiples to create larger outcomes. I started using small glass nuggets which I recycled to create new art pieces. I was inspired to use these as I liked the patterns they created and it reminded me of the way fish and lizard skin is formed. Here are some of my lizard drawings which I created using mainly watercolour and pen. Posted by Mae Rose.

Glass Nugget Forms

Tuesday, 19 May 2009. I chose to use glass nuggets because i wanted to use materials that were easy to obtain and which would allow me to follow my idea of taking one object and transforming it into another. For these pieces I melted the glass nuggets, fused them together to create my own unique sheet of glass, them slumped them over forms to create vase and bowl shapes. Posted by Mae Rose. Skeleton Glass Forms

Wednesday, 20 May 2009. These forms are again made using melted glass nuggets. I fused them together to create a sheet of glass and then slumped it over my form. I was inspired by Lilly. Pads and flower shapes when making this particular form. I wanted the outcome to differ greatly form a normal bowl and resemble more interesting organic shapes. I made six skeleton forms in total, four were the same form but I used different colours and a small form in yellow. Posted by Mae Rose.

Glass Casting

Sunday, 24 May 2009. Casting is a great way to create something from glass that you wouldn't. Be able to slump or fuse. 1 Make a mould. Before I cast I had to make a decision on what I wanted to cast from. I chose to create a more simple and contemporary. Piece I made six plaster moulds of my platter. Shapes. I had to make this many as they weaken during the firing process in the kiln and begin to crack. 2 Chose glass colours. 3 Melt glass. Layer one. 4 Melt glass layer two. 5 Take out of mould. Now the ...

About Me

Tuesday, 19 May 2009. I have always been very creative even from an early age. I love the process of making new and exciting things by experimentation and good old trial and error. I believe I learn more by practical application rather than too much studying of the theory involved. In this way I feel free and unencumbered and can express myself through the inspirational things around me. Throughout these three years I have used many different materials such as:. I learned how to make my own paper using w...
