Japanese Wife, English Life: July 2010
http://japanesewife-englishlife.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 23 July 2010. Birth, Bodily functions and Béatrice. I've been lazy and occupied in equal measure. My last post was a distant election ago. A lot has happened in our lives since then. Firstly, as I'm sure you might have guessed we are now officially dealing with a small growing sack of cells resembling a baby human. Burping, farting, dribbling, pooing, peeing and vomiting. Start as you mean to go on, as the saying goes. There were only 2 hiccups. To have oxytocin you need an IV. The chief ...Welco...

Japanese Wife, English Life: April 2010
http://japanesewife-englishlife.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, 17 April 2010. Friends of my wife, a Japanese/English couple living in London invited us to stay one weekend. That weekend is not the in the detail here, save to say that upon leaving our host felt compelled to lend us his copy of the 1980 epic TV series adpated from the book by James Clavell, Shogun. That said this had really got me thinking about Japanese history and how complex and dividing it was right up until the 20th century. So, if anyone has any recommendations for History reading, fac...

Japanese Wife, English Life: More erection news...
http://japanesewife-englishlife.blogspot.com/2010/04/more-erection-news.html
Monday, 12 April 2010. Bviously I mean election, not erection. But by the by. Watching BBC Breakfast news this morning before work the usual political wrangling and discussions about policies ensued. Naturally the Labour Party* was mentioned. My wife is currently 37 and a half weeks pregnant. Named after my 'there'? Referring to a point to her nether regions, beyond the enormous protrusion that is now her stomach. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Welcome to my blog. The everyday exciting joy of my...

Japanese Wife, English Life: May 2010
http://japanesewife-englishlife.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, 8 May 2010. Ell we have a hung parliament for the first time since 1974. In 1974 Edward Heath was briefly Prime Minister for 4 days because he couldn't do a deal with any other party to create a majority government. Harold Wilson then took up the baton with a minority government. Is any of this sounding familiar yet? How influenced by the encouragement for change from those who stand to benefit most? So what happens next. I think we should ban all parties smash their heads together and let ...

Of course at the time of writing he hasn't appeared yet. This doesn't mean he won't arrive between now and midnight of course. More like over excited! We're now hoping for May 5th, appropriate for Tango no Sekku. The carp are already flying on junior's cot. Happy Golden week too for you other holidaying folk.

Japanese Wife, English Life: The A-Bombs and VP Day
http://japanesewife-englishlife.blogspot.com/2010/08/a-bombs-and-vp-day.html
Sunday, 15 August 2010. The A-Bombs and VP Day. For about 355 days a year the west has quite a platonic relationship with Japan. We watch their TVs, we drive their cars and we play their video games. But during August it is often open season on Japan as a nation, lest they are ever able to forget past disgraces. And yet we fondly remember those days of the British empire. Ahh we sit back and reminisce how we once ruled the world and sadly now we are merely a poor second cousin to the Imperialism of t...

Japanese Wife, English Life: Learning English...
http://japanesewife-englishlife.blogspot.com/2010/04/learning-english.html
Sunday, 11 April 2010. My wife however, lived in London for only 6 months, 10 years ago. She knew very little or basic English before arriving. And yet her English is more than competent. Well she manages to sit listening patiently to me talking to her, explaining things, how much she understand is somewhat a mystery. But we hold long intelligent conversations none the less so she is far from stupid. Wife: "You have an erection? Me: "I have an erection? Furthermore today while, shopping. Me: "I sincerely...
