Just thinking about stuff. Finding the Edge of your Comfort Zone. Asymp; 1 Comment. I used to have a saying, “When you walk on the edge, sometimes you fall off” and had bruises and scratches to prove it. But as we get older, we get more afraid of the prospect. Enter an online video talk by the Scottish educational researcher Alistair Smith. Who argues that we must move to the edges of our comfort zones. Just thinking about stuff. Fiscal New Year Resolutions. Asymp; 1 Comment. The Energy of Money. Here’s another interesting pattern I have recognized: I know that I. Save money, but I also have a chunk of consumer debt. My logic is that I should pay off the debt first and then begin the savings program. My solution was to use any “leftover” money each payday to pay down the debt. But with no formal budget, not surprisingly, this program results in neither savings or debt reduction. Just thinking about stuff. Lulled into the Comfort Zone and How to Escape. Asymp; 1 Comment. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Lately I have worked a lot from home. As I am supposed to be researching and writing. It is arguably very productive. I don’t spend any time commuting and there aren’t m/any people interrupting my workflow. After a few days though, an interesting thing happens to me. I start avoiding people. I don’t want to go out and engage the world. I did and I was glad. Larr; Previous post.

Just thinking about stuff. The Cure for Alienation. Asymp; Leave a comment. I’ve avoided my writing lately. This morning I paced the floor, circling the table before sitting down with my notebook to see where my brain would take me. You’ll have to forgive me in advance for my brain has cast far and wide. My apologies. I live far from my family. I have a graduate degree, in History. I kept my name after marriage. My children were born in the care of Midwives, my daughter at home. I am the main breadwinner.

Just thinking about stuff. Girl Needs a Win. Asymp; 1 Comment. It has been months, nearly six of them, since I blogged last. I have a legion of excuses. Finishing a complicated television series with complicated partners. Three business trips in short order to determine what life after Battle Castle. Will be like (at least from a work perspective). To top it off, I found and bought a new house, marking an important transition of my kids and I. So I’ve been busy. I bet you have too. History is also very p...
How Deep is your Comfort Zone? | LifeOpsLifeObs

Just thinking about stuff. How Deep is your Comfort Zone? Asymp; Leave a comment. We are all drawn to the easy path. It’s usually the one straight through our Comfort Zones. And I think I take that way to work. For much of our every day life it is our habits and routines that allow us to function, switching us to autopilot and saving brain capacity for more challenging tasks. We literally don’t think anything of it. Here’s an example. I recently completed my Open Water SCUBA certification. As I apply it,...

Fun Funky. Fresh. Photography. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. September 25, 2012. She reminds me of Regina Spektor and Ingrid Michaelson. February 26, 2012. She is currently attending t...
