cards as i see them: the tall and the short of it
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017/01/the-tall-and-short-of-it.html
Saturday, January 7, 2017. The tall and the short of it. 1989 was probably the year that i purchased the fewest number of cards in my almost 39 years of collecting. i am pretty sure that i bought a single box of topps cards, and that was it. no fleer, no donruss, no score, no upper deck, and certainly no oddball issues like baseball talk. that's why i was recently pleased to receive this kirk gibson card from night owl. Which is very nice. Labels: 1989 topps baseball talk. 2012 topps allen and ginter.

cards as i see them: high flying infield cards rule
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017/01/high-flying-infield-cards-rule.html
Monday, January 2, 2017. High flying infield cards rule. Like many others, i received a pwe from adam at infield fly rule before christmas. there were some nice cards for my collection in there, including a 1993 fleer ultra eric karros card. This was one of the last two cards i needed to finish off that team set, and between adam and brian from hsca, i was able to mark it as complete. The highlight of the envelope for me was this 1999 fleer tradition brian bohanon card. Labels: 1993 fleer ultra. Garvey c...

cards as i see them: November 2016
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. You've got to fall in love with preparation. That was bill mueller's advice to an aspiring ballplayer, and it's true. i've known a couple of professional athletes, and the practice and meetings and workouts wear on them. it is ok with me, then, that preparation has no place in this post. I still call it luck, even if it only required opportunity. To clarify - i just saw the "congratulations" and "clayton kershaw" text...

cards as i see them: chronicles of trading with fuji
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017/01/chronicles-of-trading-with-fuji.html
Sunday, January 8, 2017. Chronicles of trading with fuji. Living where i do, there are plenty of opportunities to pick up kurt suzuki cards, and when i do, i send them to fuji. i recently sent a 2016 topps chrome blue atomic refractor suzuki card to fuji, as well as a 1991 topps desert shield rickey henderson card, and he returned the favor by sending me some dodger goodness. Leading things off is this 2015 topps pro debut alex verdugo distinguished debut card. Were all highly regarded prospects. 3-dog i...

cards as i see them: January 2017
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2017. A day early and some dodgers short. Stopped by a target store this afternoon and found some 2017 topps. the blaster and value box that i picked up were short on dodgers - this is what i pulled in terms of the boys in blue:. Chase utley, jose deleon, and corey seager. Two of which are no longer dodgers. I did also get this scott van slyke card (it's nice to see svs out of update and in to the regular set for a change). That looks different and is numbered to 50 on the back.

cards as i see them: a memorial patch for yogi berra that spanned two seasons
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017/01/a-memorial-patch-for-yogi-berra-that.html
Monday, January 9, 2017. A memorial patch for yogi berra that spanned two seasons. As if 2016 weren't bad enough regarding the passing of icons of various genres, the yankees wore their yogi berra memorial patch (berra's retired number 8) on their sleeve for the entire 2016 season. this was done even though berra passed away in 2015, and the team had worn the patch during the last weeks of that season, too. And here's starlin castro's 2016 topps allen and ginter card showing the patch for the 2016 season.

cards as i see them: a couple of giant memorial patches
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017/01/a-couple-of-giant-memorial-patches.html
Friday, January 13, 2017. A couple of giant memorial patches. The san francisco giants wore two memorial patches during the 2016 season - one for former player monte irvin and one for former player, manager, and coach jim davenport. the patches ("monte 20" and "davvy 12") were worn side-by-side on the right sleeve during the giants' short playoff run, as seen on this 2016 topps now kris bryant card. And the all-star game. Labels: 2016 topps chrome. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thank you, vin.

cards as i see them: my favorite card of 2016
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017/01/my-favorite-card-of-2016.html
Wednesday, January 4, 2017. My favorite card of 2016. 2016 was a pretty good year as far as being a collector of steve garvey cards was concerned, so at least it had that going for it. It all started with the topps anthology set - a set of 5x7 reprints that was available only online. garvey's iconic 1971 topps rookie card was chosen to be a part of that set, which included base cards numbered to 499,. A silver version numbered to 49,. And a gold version numbered to 10. Topps went for it with buybacks in ...

cards as i see them: a reds memorial patch for bernie stowe
http://cardsasiseethem.blogspot.com/2017/01/a-reds-memorial-patch-for-bernie-stowe.html
Tuesday, January 10, 2017. A reds memorial patch for bernie stowe. Bernie stowe, who had worked for the reds from 1947 until his retirement in 2013, passed away shortly before the start of the 2016 season. the reds added a memorial patch for stowe to their right sleeves for the season, as seen on this 2016 topps update joey votto team franklin. Labels: 2016 topps update. January 10, 2017 at 9:01 PM. January 11, 2017 at 7:55 AM. It always seems like clubhouse managers stay in their position forever. Sight...
