Sunday, June 26, 2011. In and Around Arequipa. Is June 26th and I just cant believe that we have been in Peru for less than a week, so much has happened! After leaving the incredible sand dunes in Ica we caught an over night bus to Arequipa. Just looking out of the bus's windows was amazing. The early morning sun illuminated a stark landscape against a backdrop of snow caped mountains. Through this incredible vista wound a canyon filled with clouds! Pictures can be found at Arequipa. Saturday, July 2, 2011. Hello lucky people in the 1st world! We finally made it to Cuzco! After a long bus ride with questionable food, we arrived here yesterday at about 7am. (To the left you´ll see a photo of Ms. B: dutifully watching our packs at the bus terminal.) From there, we checked into our hostel and marvelled at the strange weather, which I kinda forgot existed during our time in the desert. What is this moisture? I forget what it´s called, but its cold, drippy, and thoroughly unpleasant.

Thursday, June 30, 2011. Road Bumps and Petroglifos. Yesterday we went to see Petroglifos and trekked up into the mountains. The group spent the day roaming around rocks and looking at all the carvings. The scenery was quite awesome because we left the green below as we entered the desert. Sunday, July 10, 2011. After our trek we stayed one night in Ollaytantambo. We made a friend that was first named Gilbert, then Gilberta, then Bomba, short for Urabomba. It was a dog, the best dog ever. It followed us everywhere! Sorry to my english teachers for my terrible writing. Love you all! Wednesday, May 25, 2011. On Saturday March 21st, Marina, Clay, Emily Stickles, Ms. Barnard, Ben and I went to Boston to participate in a scavenger hunt organized by World Challenge. Our team name was The Peruvian Death Peppers,. At the end of the day, we won the scavenger hunt with a total of 203 points! Through our hard work, we earned $100 towards our trip!
