Dreamcicle Journeys: How to Make a Visual Calendar
http://dreamciclejourneys.blogspot.com/2009/04/how-to-make-visual-calendar.html
Friday, April 10, 2009. How to Make a Visual Calendar. A couple readers asked how I make my visual calendars. The first two visual calendars I kept were created collaboratively with other artists. The 2007 calendar used a monthly format. Used a weekly format. I prefer the monthly calendar in an engagement book format. I find a calendar template or use an existing calendar for the year. The pages measure 8x10 inches. I use Photo Shop. To split and re size. Them to fit the 8x10 page. Really awesome blog...

Dreamcicle Journeys: Last Meditation Book Exchange Pages
http://dreamciclejourneys.blogspot.com/2015/08/last-meditation-book-exchange-pages.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. Last Meditation Book Exchange Pages. Here are my last two pages for our meditation-themed book exchange. The first page, I lettered with Pebeo drawing gum to create a resist and painted watercolor over it. The gum is then erased. I like this Georgia O'Keeffe quote- "I found I could say things with color and shapes that I could not say any other way. Things I had no words for." This led to drawing and painting the mandala. http://dreamciclejourneys.blogspot.com/2011/01/encaustic-playtime-painting-with-wax.html
Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Encaustic Playtime- Painting with Wax. Last weekend while it poured down rain outside, four of us spent two wonderful days with Judy Wise. In her studio learning hot plate encuastic painting. We used her studio setup and got to try out many different techniques. The Picasso-like face painting above was created on a black background with layers of wax painted on the board. We created sample boards with a variety of encaustic painting techniques. Dreamcicle Journeys: Upcycled Wind Chime
http://dreamciclejourneys.blogspot.com/2015/07/upcyled-wind-chime.html
Wednesday, July 22, 2015. At our Portland Art Collective picnic this month, we exchanged yard art. I had in mind making a wind chime. I went to SCRAP. I had to figure out how to hang the knitting needles from the grill. I used washers to hold the needles and drilled a couple holes on each side to wire them to the grill. The center consists of colorful beads I had on hand and a bell. The whole project cost under $10. It's fun to create something that you usually don't make. Posted by Dreamcicle Journeys.

Saturday, July 4, 2015. Contemporary Book of Hours. Last week, I attended the Focus on Book Arts Conference. At Pacific University in Forest Grove. The biennial conference attracts outstanding book artists and instructors. I made this book in Carol Pallesen's. Entitled The Contemporary Book of Hours. Posted by Dreamcicle Journeys. These are so inviting. Wow. That blue cover is dazzling! Does the casein paint receive lettering well? Did you buy the casein? Saturday, July 04, 2015. Monday, July 06, 2015.

Dreamcicle Journeys: Remains of the Day Journal with Peerless Watercolors
http://dreamciclejourneys.blogspot.com/2010/06/remains-of-day-journal-with-peerless.html
Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Remains of the Day Journal with Peerless Watercolors. This week, I made another "Remains of the Day" shabby journal. For a graduation gift for a writer. It's fun to work with different fabric scraps and the tie is made with Dupioni silk. Below is the outside cover. The Peerless Transparent Watercolors. Make a great travel palette. I covered a piece of 140# watercolor paper with decorative paper and tape and put an eyelet to hold the palette together with waxed linen. When a color i...

Dreamcicle Journeys: May Calligraphic Pages for Book Exchange
http://dreamciclejourneys.blogspot.com/2015/06/may-calligraphic-pages-for-book-exchange.html
Monday, June 1, 2015. May Calligraphic Pages for Book Exchange. My May pages for our book exchange continued the meditation theme with an emphasis on mindfulness. I used my Gelli plate to lay down the color for each page. Noodler's red black ink is my new favorite and lettered "mindfulness" with it. Posted by Dreamcicle Journeys. Dreamcicle Journeys: Artist Statement
http://dreamciclejourneys.blogspot.com/p/artist-statement.html
Nature dominates my work and reflects my love of the outdoors. The beauty of the Northwest provides a wealth of challenging themes to investigate. My personal style evolves through discovery and experimentation. I use my art journals to generate ideas and study techniques. I often begin a project with a drawing or background design and continue with layers of paint and mixed media. Each layer adds depth and spirit to my original idea. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
