You would think that if Christ wanted a large following He would be more careful about what He said. These things did not seem to concern Him. His teachings were hard. So hard that at one time many of His followers up and left Him. This Jesus was just too much. (Jn 6:60-70). Try to listen to those Words from that perspective and not be offended.
