Hindu’s believe Mathusa to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna and believe that he grew up in Vrindavan 10km north of the town. Across the towns there are lots of depictions of his life, manly made from papier mache and brightly painted. There was a beautiful temple decorated with mirror mosaics. There were lots of temples dotted around Vrindavan, many devoted to Lord Krishna. A ghat on the river.

The city is surrounded by forts, palaces and stunning hills. On the top of the largest hill is the Raj’s palace, surrounded by a lake. The palace has royal graves looking out over the city.
