We've had a few guests aboard for fun visits, but some of our guests have been uninvited. Here is a collection of our stowaways (to enlarge, click on photo):. While in the Riverbend Shipyard in Ft. Lauderdale, we noticed a lizard, which we were glad to have aboard as they eat insects. We lost track of him until seen later here in the engine room. In the cockpit, while at St. Simon Island, Georgia. We don't know how he came aboard, but we do know how he left! In Saint Lucia, Freddy the Freeloader. We retu...

Monday, April 30, 2012. Who pissed off the weatherman? This is the rain as seen from the weather radar on the internet. This is what the rain looks like from Moonshadow's radar. This is what the rain looks like from Moonshadow's cockpit. Ok, it's not exotic, but this is the cruising life for us for the next week or two, while we bet on the "now" side of the "pay-me-now or pay-me-later" boat maintenance proposition. Nice that we're getting all this crappy weather out of the way while we're at it! Ours are...

Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Today, November 1st, turns out to be a big day for John and Deb. First, it marks the 38th anniversary of our engagement. Our engagement resulted in part from a plan to sail around the world, that (it was agreed) wouldn't be too well received by certain parents if we were un-married. solution? Easy: Let's get married! What do you do when waiting for your house and boat to sell so you can commence your dream cruise? Non skid is silicone sand sprinkled through a jar with holes dri...

Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Ok, so now it's January, 2012, and we haven't sold the house or the boat or any cars or any junk that's in the attic. But we have bought. Some stuff, like these cool foulies! Now hopefully, we can stow them away in a duffle, and one day reflect on what a waste of money it was to buy foul weather gear since we never use them because the weather is always perfect. We do believe in insurance! What a treat we had. Posted by John and Deb Rogers. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. World navigators possess amazing skills to find their way not just at sea but also ashore. We, on the other hand, found ourselves utterly lost in Mazatlan. Well OK, technically we weren't lost, but after we could not find the Colonial District of Mazatlan, we returned to Moonshadow to regroup where we turned to our FWC. But when we left, we rode the elevator down from the roof. It stopped. The streets are narrow and the building facades are captivating. Another door opens to an...

Sunday, December 30, 2012. Click on photos to enlarge). English Harbour is a place seafarers have been visiting since Christopher Columbus. It is full of history and beautiful yachts. The British thought it was better to keep it for themselves so they built a fort at the entrance. And they stocked the place with cannons. lots of cannons! Now days, they'll let almost anybody come and hang out here. Still, it really helps if you have a HUGE super yacht. This is 289 foot sailing yacht Maltese Falcon. But al...

A Rescue in Cook's Bay, Moorea. Large cruise ships make it through the narrow pass into Cook's Bay on Moorea. On Oct 24th we ended up motor sailing most of the way to Cooks Bay on the north side of Moorea. Meryl found some good bargains from the local artisans.
