Free Range Learning: Dilemma
http://freerangelearning.blogspot.com/2007/09/dilemma.html
Friday, September 14, 2007. We're lucky here in BC, because we have the choice to opt out of the education system and teach our children however we want, no questions asked. That's how we did it for the first few years, but as the kids got older and wanted to take more and more classes, the pull of the funding was pretty hard to turn down. My reason for saying all this is that I'm thinking of pulling out of the program because of the work that lies ahead of us with the building of our house. Or to cut ba...

Sunday, September 24, 2006. We took part in the. Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. Last week. The section of waterfront that we were responsible for was a duck pond and stream not far from where we live. Here are the kids assessing the job - there were a lot of plastic bags and coffee cups in the water. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Free Range Learning: July 2007
http://freerangelearning.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 22, 2007. We joined thousands of eager Harry Potter fans on Friday night, heading out to one of the city's most beautiful gardens which had been turned into the Ministry of Magic for a few fun hours. The party that we took part in was put on by Vancouver Kidsbooks. Our favorite local bookstore, which always decorates its front entrance in honor of the latest Harry Potter book. There was a mini Hogwarts Express. And Hungarian Horntail dragons just looking for trouble. Friday, July 13, 2007.

Monday, October 15, 2007. Jackson Pollock for a Day. We've been a lot of really neat things this year, but I haven't had a chance to post about any of them yet! Can you tell by the expression on his face that he's liking this art form? Heaven help me if he takes this up seriously! Labels: Arts and Crafts.

http://a-step-at-a-time.blogspot.com/2007/07/happy-canada-day.html
A Step at a Time. Sunday, July 01, 2007. We enjoyed a wonderful Canada Day celebration last night at the family of Colours of Dawn. Awesome food, great conversation, and a delightful fireworks display. The kids had a marvelous time, too, and met some new friends. And the 15 minutes or so of torrential rain just added to the excitement. I NEVER forget it. And then I go and forget it. I was jinxed I tell ya! I'm very certain that Dawn. Will show photos of the evening on her blog soon, and maybe Sirdar.

A Step at a Time: Going Batty
http://a-step-at-a-time.blogspot.com/2007/07/going-batty_06.html
A Step at a Time. Friday, July 06, 2007. A couple of nights ago I went to bed early and was sleeping peacefully, when Adrian came barging in. He’d been downstairs watching a movie. “There’s a bat in the house! 8221; he exclaimed. After I recovered from being jolted awake, I was suddenly thrust into terror. A bat! I reacted quickly…. By hiding under the covers. 8221; he reported, helpfully. I was royally freaking out at that point. What if it finds it's way into our room? 8221; he called. Oh God. Now when...
A Step at a Time: Good for Everyone
http://a-step-at-a-time.blogspot.com/2007/06/good-for-everyone.html
A Step at a Time. Tuesday, June 26, 2007. I found this on My4Kids. I was curious enough to check out my own blog. I guess I'm not that naughty. How 'bout that? I'm gonna have to step up my game. I was hoping for a PG rating a least. I did chuckle when I read this:. This rating was determined based on the presence of the following words: fart (1x). That must have been the reference. To musical fart machine we played with at the science museum.uh oh! I said it twice now! I wonder if it'll affect my rating.
A Step at a Time: A Great Weekend with One Scary Bit
http://a-step-at-a-time.blogspot.com/2007/06/great-weekend-with-one-scary-bit.html
A Step at a Time. Monday, June 25, 2007. A Great Weekend with One Scary Bit. We had a great and busy weekend. Saturday morning was spent frantically cleaning my house. For some reason I let it become a complete tip, and then when I’m about to have guests I have to stress myself out by cleaning for 3 hours straight. On Sunday we went with my parents (and my friend’s son) to the Telus World of Science. They had free tickets to see Dinosaurs Alive. The boys are building a bee hive here. Dd on a huge tongue.
A Step at a Time: Pool Time
http://a-step-at-a-time.blogspot.com/2007/06/pool-time.html
A Step at a Time. Friday, June 29, 2007. Picture from last summer). I hope the weather smartens up soon. It doesn’t feel like summer has started because it just hasn’t been that warm. Before I bore you to death with the talk of weather I’ll move on. It’s on my mind lately because we’re finally setting up our pool. In the end, we just wrapped up the pool and put it away. The pool is fine, though. Not icky or mouldy. Whew. A relief because those pools aren’t cheap to replace. Hope the weather gets nice soo...

A Step at a Time. Tuesday, July 03, 2007. Summer timmmme and the livin' is easyyyy.". We have summer weather! Hoorah. And with that hot sticky weather comes days spent by the pool (and some time doing yard work), and less time on the computer. Housework is a challenge for me normally because…well. I don’t like it! I might get a chance to get on here later today to catch up with reading and maybe even do a post. I hope you all are enjoying summer where you are. Summertime and the livin is easy. Great song...

Free Range Lass | the majestic world of travels with cats
The majestic world of travels with cats. Living Off-Grid is Hard. I got over that pretty quickly. If you’re going to burn oil for a light source, burn mineral spirits or lamp fluid. Living off-grid is expensive. Modern technology is not to be dismissed out-of-hand. Some inventions are actually more efficient than the old tried-and-true methods. That lasted less than a day. Come to Eugene for second-hand rope ladders. Anyway, I found a gorgeous little toaster oven at the Goodwill, and my good friends ...

Free range learning with. If you asked me what I came here to do, I would tell you I came to live out loud. My nephew Bill finally got married, thanks to the Supreme Court. And we're finally interviewing for an Executive Vice Chancellor at UWT. A month of finally. Picked champagne grapes in Oregon, bottled carmenere grapes from Washington. Life is beautiful. Summer should be quiet at UWT. So far, two conference presentations and a quick trip to NSF. I'm limp. Comment, Question, Reaction?

Free Range Learning
Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Hello, old friends! If you're like me, what with it being nine years since we last spoke, your kids have likely grown up and moved on from home learning. I can safely say, with hindsight what it is, that home schooling was the best decision we ever made. Both of our kids are amazing people, pursuing their interests now as adults the way they always have, with self-motivated passion. I hope all is well in your world, and would love it if you stopped by the new blog to say hello!
