천안시 안서동의 각원사에 위치한 세계 최대의 좌불상. 1977년 5월에 남북통일을 기원하기 위해 봉안된 이 좌불상은 높이가 14m 20cm(불상 11m 80cm(일본의 가마꾸라 좌불보다 90cm 더 높다합니다.), 좌대 2m 40cm)이며 좌대의 지름이 10m에 이르는 청동 좌불상입니다. 각원사는 재일교포 각연거사(覺然居士) 김영조(金永祚)씨의 시주로 1977년 5월에 세워졌으며, 남북통일을 염원하는 사찰을 세우려 한 것이 발원의 본뜻이라합니다. 1996년 10월 15일에 낙성된 대웅전은 목조 건물로는 국내 최대 규모입니다. 이 절의 언덕에는 203개의 계단이 있는데, 이것은 108 번뇌와 관세음보살의 32화신, 아미타불의 48소원 및 12인연과 3보(寶) 등 불법과 관계있는 숫자를 합해서 정한 것이라 합니다. 어제 귀한 분이 오셔서 모시고 갔었습니다. 범종각 지붕 너머로 천안 시내가 보입니다. 강릉, 바다와 갈매기. 취암산에서 내려다 본 천안 쪽 야경. 오페라 가수, 뮤지컬 배우.
