That they are aware, but are being given inaccurate information. To begin with, OCD takes many forms. In my own case, I do. OCD is not the same as OCPD, which stands for Obsessive Compulsive Personaltiy Disorder, and is a separate diagnosis, although the two overlap and have many features in common.
