CN was created in late 1918 from the merger of a number of insolvent and government-controlled railways, the most significant members being: Canadian Government Railways (consitituting the former Canadian Northern and Intercolonial Railways) and the Grand Trunk Pacific. In 1923 their formation was completed with the addition of the Grand Trunk Railway. 124 Nfld. (CN/CNF).

Canadian Pacific Railway (18xx-present). Just about everyone in Canada has heard of Pierre Berton's. Which tells the story of the construction of the CPR, with the last spike being driven in 1885. Because of this long history, their freight car history is more complex than most and I've only been able to pick up their story from circa 1905 to date. This compilation © 2016 by Ian Cranstone.
