Why is it so cheap. Rivers, lakes , beaches. How to get here. Fresselines is a pretty little village situated in the department of Creuse in the region of Limousin (approx 2 km from The Bothy.) Its enchanting landscape and mysterious light inspired Claude Monet to paint 23 canvases from the edges of the Petite and Grande Creuse rivers.The village has a bar, restaurant , butchers shop , post office, hairdressers, bakery, small campsite and an exhibition centre.

Why is it so cheap. Rivers, lakes , beaches. How to get here. The nearest airport is Limoges served by Ryanair from many UK airports. We can collect from the airport for a small charge ie up to three people 30euro up to 7 people 40euro journey time is 1hr direct 1hr 15min via the scenic route. The nearest railway station is Eguzon closely followed by La Souterraine. Pick up/drop off from either station would cost 15euro for either vehicle. More details to follow.

You can pan for gold in the river Gartempe which is about 35km away. It was successfuly panned for many centuries during roman times and there are plans to reopen a gold mine in Creuse near where the river Gartempe rises - with much opposition from the local people who quite rightly say that the true gold around here is in the unspoilt landscape. Why is it so cheap. Rivers, lakes , beaches. How to get here. As the bothy is on a smallholding- we keep chickens and currently have two show horses ( they belong to our neighbour and are used to give free rides at the local festivals).
