Friday's Child

The lads have done it again. For the first time since 1992 when the Windies did it, a side has beaten Auctralia at home in a back to back Test and ODI series. This was a mammoth effort on behalf of the entire squad - especially when you consider that the 4th ODI was won without Boucher (broken toe) and Smith (who left after the test series with wa broken hand. Albie was the destroyer in chief in the ODI series where SA were chasing in every game (someone should teach our captains how to win a toss! The s...

Friday's Child: Work in Progress

http://www.fridayschildren.blogspot.com/2008/11/work-in-progress.html

Like the Mother City herself, our new stadium. Rumoured to be named "Godzille Dome" after our Mayor was chosen recently as world mayor of the year - is a work in progress. Since I have travelled far and wide not only to see live music and events, but also the stadia in which they take place, I feel I am fairly qualified to pass judgment on the planned design - and I must say it will be an impressive structure. It does make for good photographic material -. Especially in the early morning light.

Friday's Child: Sa vs Aus 2008/2009

http://www.fridayschildren.blogspot.com/2008/12/sa-vs-aus-20082009.html

Sa vs Aus 2008/2009. The world championship of cricket is about to get started and as usual the fantasy leagues are springing up all over the net. Of course, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what happens off the field, only on it. Certain players will define the series for either side, and Jacques Kallis. Will need to perform to silence his ever-growing flock of critics. His record against Australia overall. Is hardly poor though - just under 40 - and against Australia IN AUSTRALIA he averages 48!

Friday's Child: Marley turns one

http://www.fridayschildren.blogspot.com/2008/12/marley-turns-one.html

Marley turned one on the 9th of December 2008. How vividly we still remember his dramatic entry into this world, but he has made up for it by being the most chilled little guy you could imagine. Let's hope that keeps going for as long as possible :-). Happy Birthday my boy. This entry was posted on 7:36 PM You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0. Friday's Child: First series win in Australia

http://www.fridayschildren.blogspot.com/2009/01/first-series-win-in-auctralia.html

First series win in Australia. South Africa completed the second highest run chase in test history. To give themselves a chance at their first series win away to the Aussies. Even after the usual heroics from Punter Ponting, South Africa pushed on towards their inexorable goal. What one correspondent called The year of South Africa and Graeme Smith was crowned with this precise feat - a series win away from home against the old cricket enemy. Covering this momentous occasion, I will link directly to them.

The Family Blog: The big biscuit bake

http://capetownschild.blogspot.com/2008/11/baking-biscuits.html

Living at the foot of Africa. Monday, November 10, 2008. The big biscuit bake. One of Willow's favourite things at the moment is baking and cooking. She has stated, on more than one occasion, that she wants to become a chef when she grows up. And while we are only too keen to encourage her early career choices, we will wait until she is older (and still wanting to become a chef) before we enlighten her as to the realities of this profession with its early starts and late finishes. Cape Town, South Africa.

The Family Blog: Pony party

http://capetownschild.blogspot.com/2009/01/pony-party.html

Living at the foot of Africa. Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Willow and Chiara had friends over for a pony party. After much hard work by Claudia, Jackie and I, the event kicked off at around 3:30pm at Willow and Chiara's old school. I can't believe they are old enough to even be OLD GIRLS of a school - the wonderful Montessori in Oranjezicht. The kids all seemed to have a jol. As did the grown ups too by the looks of it! Sparkling and G&T's were the order of the afternoon.). Favourite Links and Blogs.

The Family Blog: Dancing Queen

http://capetownschild.blogspot.com/2008/12/dancing-queen.html

Living at the foot of Africa. Tuesday, December 2, 2008. We have a budding dancer in our ranks. Willow had her end of year dance recital and passed with honours. Here she is in full costume - and dance oves at various ages. Here is the Madonna. And this looks distinctly like her Kylie,. But the jury's still out on that one. Favourite Links and Blogs. Cape Town, South Africa. Concert fan travelled worldwide to see orchestras and rock bands live. Want to get bands to come to SA by popular demand.

The Family Blog: Marley turns One

http://capetownschild.blogspot.com/2008/12/marley-turns-one.html

Living at the foot of Africa. Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Time flies while you're having fun and Marley's first year on this planet was no exception. We had a birthday party for him, but also an excuse for the grown-ups to quaff some sparkling wine and cake! He really enjoyed his presents but was most taken with the collection of balloons mommy arranged, and was not very happy when the day was over and the balloons - and the birthday boy - had to go to bed. http://capetownschild.blogspot.com/2009/01/family-holiday-swakopmund.html

Living at the foot of Africa. Saturday, January 17, 2009. Family Holiday - Swakopmund. A very pleasant few weeks were spent with family in Namibia. Christmas was spent with the Busch Clan and New Year in Swakopmund. The two weeks after New Year in Swakopmund were great and we had a chilled time with Dave and Glenda. The kids had a ball at the beach. Marley ate half of Swakopmund's beach sand. Thanks to all who made the holiday possible. Thanks to Chris for an amazing Living Desert Adventure.

Friday's Child is…. Friday’s Child is Quilting and Sewing. Happy New Year readers, hope 2015 is filled with good times and laughter. Now it’s finished, I feel a bit empty but that also means I can start something new – time to dust off that fabric stash! As well as my lovely quilt, I’ve also been making a nice vibrant block to donate to Quilts for Comfort North East. I’ve got a bit of the fabric left so I can maybe make another one to donate!
