In the local communities we serve, a quiet space at home, where one can do your homework or study in peace and quiet, is a luxury ill-afforded and seldom encountered. Access to the public library is limited to whether you can afford the transport fees, or can walk kilometres to get there. Recreation in any form is also hardly ever available to other members of the communities. We hope with this to provide a first stepping stone in breaking the prevailing cycle of poverty. Giving a meal to a hungry child. A new project launched by AFIN recently is the SOUP KITCHEN. Our employees who voluntarily became involved in this project take turns providing a nutritional cooked meal for several children living in the area. For the majority of these children, this is the only cooked meal they receive a day, Monday through to Friday. At present we provide meals for 17 children, and, the number of children, are growing daily. Tel: 011 660 2052 I.

Every Monday and some Saturdays, A Friend in need. Provides food parcels to approximately 280 families, living in dire need. For many, this will be the only food they receive all week. Unfortunately, the need far outweighs the supply, and many more are turned away empty handed. Woolworths kindly donates any excess fresh food from their local stores with the understanding that we collect it from them. However, tinned food, mealie meal, sugar and any dry groceries have to be sourced from elsewhere.
