February 7, 2015. The lesson I am preparing for RS tomorrow is on the subject of agency. The question of agency was the substance of the war in heaven. We fought for the right to choose rather than be subject to force or coercion. We applauded our victory at having chosen our path and rejoiced for a Savior appointed to reclaim us. January 19, 2014. It's been a hard couple of years for him. It has brought him a lot of growth and a broader perspective. At 17 it is hard to imagine the long-term implications of immediate decisions. As a parent, the view is a little broader and I can see the affects of short term decisions; but, I am also very young in my own spiritual and emotional development. As a parent I grow impatient when I have plans and desires and the needs of others infringe on my progress. How can this be? He is available t...

January 11, 2015. Goats, Sheep, Lamps of oil, and Self-righteousness. We had a wonderful Stake Conference with Robert M Call this weekend. I hears a lot of talk about feeling God's love, and the blessings of daily scripture study family prayer, and Family Home Evening. Elder Call made reference to three parables:. 1) the sheep and the goats, 2) the talents, 3) the Ten Virgins. The sheep heard the voice of the Shepard and obeyed willingly, the goats stubbornly wanted to do things their own way. Then I rem...

February 16, 2014. There has been a lot of stress at home lately. Sibling rivalry, backbiting, and short tempers abound. This afternoon we had a family meeting wile enjoying chocolate caramel fondue ( I thought a little sweetening might help). Earlier in the week, I texted everyone and asked them to prepare to respond to the following statements by Sunday. "What is important to me in my life is , , and . I enjoy being around , because they .". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I recognize that to fortify mysel...

pebbles4penguins: Then and now
http://pebblesforpenguins.blogspot.com/2015/02/then-and-now.html
February 21, 2015. It's fun sometimes to look back at what was important when I first began blogging. How much has changed, how much remains the same. My goals in 2008:. Seriously cook healthy food. Carrots, blueberries, and green vegetables everyday. STILL WORKING ON THIS. No more haphazard, "what can I fix quick and now" dinners. Some form of exercise everyday (Wii fit, walking, walk a flight or stairs or PT exercises - whatever I fit in today). Deep breathing when I'm mad or frustrated. 50 by 50 ".

pebbles4penguins: Thoughts from woman's conference
http://pebblesforpenguins.blogspot.com/2015/03/thoughts-from-womans-conference.html
March 1, 2015. Thoughts from woman's conference. I attended a LDS woman's conference yesterday. I was impressed by the statement "As we weather the storms of life, God's vision for you does not change". We may not be living the happily ever after we dreamed of as a young girl, but through the atonement of Jesus Christ we will enjoy pur happily ever after. Live in the present and in the future.". This is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel of hope. Couple has to get used to each other.”. What To Do Wit...

pebbles4penguins: Sugar Jungle
http://pebblesforpenguins.blogspot.com/2015/03/sugar-jungle.html
March 1, 2015. I have been toying for a while now with going to a sugar free diet, but haven't been willing to pass up treats. Those dark chocolate filled croissants at the Free table called me like a siren. Doesn't turning away my son's homemade cookies he left for me on the night stand seem like I'm rejecting him? I don't remember growing up thinking I had to have a sweet everyday to reward myself, let alone survive the day. I'm there now wandering the sugar jungle in my life. Is this an escape pod?

May 10, 2014. While exchanging money for food at a local Taco Bell the debit card dropped in the hand-off. The 50 year old thought, I’ll pull the car forward and park, then walk back and pick it up. The 20 year old said “I’ll get it.” And flopped his upper body out the drive-through window stretched to the ground like RubberMan, righted himself in moments and re-handed the debit card to the driver. "Enjoy the rest of your day," he said. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). What To Do With Vintage Blocks.
