On July 8 2006, Cpl. Joseph P. Micks. Son of Ken and Amy Micks of Rapid River, was killed while serving our country in Iraq. Joseph is the only Delta County resident to have lost his life in Iraq. The Mick’s family said, “Joseph was our hero, he stood up for our country and gave it everything he had.”. Since, we have honored our Fallen Hero by dedicating the 'Lest They Be Forgotten Memorial' to him Memorial Day, May 25, 2009, in Masonville Township Park, Rapid River, Michigan.
