As the site is exposed to the south west, the plan was that as the original bushes died off, the old beds would be used to create windbreaks by planting suitable plants that would also extend the fl owering season of interest in the park. However this was not done and in 2005 older lilacs were dug up and the beds grassed over.

The most obvious wild life in the park are the birds but careful observation at the right times will reward the observer with sightings of foxes, rabbits, badgers and grey squirrels. The pond garden is home to frogs, toads and smooth newts. But the list of the breeds of birds seen in the park is a long one. Accentor (Dunnock, Hedge sparrow).

Most months - except December - we meet in the park on a Sunday morning to do work which varies according to the time of the year and what most needs attention.
