A DAY IN THE LIFE. ART IN THE EVERYDAY. A Bakeri Grows in Greenpoint. I’ve spent some of the best years of my life living in the northern end of Greenpoint. Though I’m by no means a native, I feel like this small area. South of the bridge to Queens is my home. While it seems like a new space. Opens up every week in the neighborhood’s mid-way point (on Greenpoint Avenue), there hasn’t been quite the same rush to turn empty storefronts into retail shops and restaurants a few blocks north. In addition to th...

Sunday, April 28, 2013. On the Street….West 38th St., New York. You rarely see carts like this in the Garment District anymore. I’ve had two prints of carts wrapped like this hanging above my desk. When I’m on the phone or daydreaming I let my eyes just run along the twisting, curving lines of this image. Jump to comment form. April 28, 2013 at 10:43 am. Wonderful art form, the lines and symmetry and twisting of the metal, make this a perfect ,standing sculpture. Outstanding image. Is it a new york thing?

A DAY IN THE LIFE. ART IN THE EVERYDAY. Before & After: Fabric Covered Typewriter. Today’s first before & after makeover is one that I never would have thought to try, but I love the results! Portland’s Cori Kindred. Wanted to give her vintage typewriter a facelift so she covered it in a beautiful floral fabric. She started by cutting a piece of fabric a few inches larger than the portion of the typewriter that would be covered. (She used “Rosette” from Fabric Traditions. Found at Joann Fabrics. I love t...

October 21, 2013 at 2:14 pm. How fitting. The modern necktie is descended from the neckerchief/ scarf given to Napoleon’s troopers. This served to identify them and allow them to collect various perquisites from the populace. The epaulets and cut of the jacket have a military flair. Nice way to wear a scarf!
