A Slice of Life: Our Story
http://beccaleigh80.blogspot.com/p/adoption-decision.html
A Slice of Life. When Micah was four days shy of four months old, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and underwent chemo, surgery, radiation and Herceptin (a breast cancer drug) that I had to take for a full year. I had my last Herceptin treatment on Sept. 9, 2009. We immediately became very excited about the possibility and pursued this baby by contacting an attorney and beginning the home study process and even corresponding with this girl. Ultimately she decided to parent, and while we wer...

A Slice of Life. Monday, June 24, 2013. The Elephant in the Room. Many of you have asked. Many have figured it out. We weren't planning to share outside of our immediate family and friends until we talked to our girls to see how they. Want to handle it. Some of you are reading this and have absolutely no clue what I could possibly be talking about. But it seems the time has come to share. Is Lily and Stella's special need? Our girls are HIV . Needs to be better educated about HIV. I'm going to list some ...

A Slice of Life: Field Trip to the Airport
http://beccaleigh80.blogspot.com/2013/10/field-trip-to-airport.html
A Slice of Life. Thursday, October 17, 2013. Field Trip to the Airport. Early last week we received our USCIS approval form and mailed that final document to Raleigh to be apostilled. Since the post office would be closed on Monday (10/14), we hoped it would be back to us from Raleigh by Friday so we could mail it to one of two families leaving for EE this past Tuesday morning. It wasn't here on Friday. We were pretty bummed. So I called UPS to see what it would cost to mail to the capital city. $125!

A Slice of Life: Karina
http://beccaleigh80.blogspot.com/2014/09/karina.html
A Slice of Life. Friday, September 5, 2014. Last year in October we learned that Karina (formally known as 'Lily'), the then 15 year old we'd planned to adopt along with Nastya ('Stella'), did not want to be adopted. We were devastated. We told Nastya of our desires to adopt Karina once we'd left her city and were in Kiev. We didn't want her learning it from someone else. She was sad Karina had made the decision she did. We all were. In late July we got a call that rocked our world. She changed her mind!

Saving His Sparrows: March 2015
http://savinghissparrows.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Hang me on your tree - Micah. Sunday, March 22, 2015. Do you see them? A little money available for charity. It won't be a big donation. It won't go far. But hopefully it will help a little. Hopefully it will help a little with the adoption costs. Hopefully it will help a child get a family! But where should I put it. What child should I give it to. And will it really make a difference? There are so many children. A little donation is like a drop in the bucket. And it can be a little disheartening. Becau...

Saving His Sparrows: November 2014
http://savinghissparrows.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Hang me on your tree - Micah. Saturday, November 15, 2014. What is Angel Tree and how did I get involved? Is a big fundraiser put on by Reece's Rainbow. For special children who need families. Every year from November 1-December 31 children with Down Syndrome (and sometimes children with other needs) are featured. Children who are living in orphanages and foster care. Waiting for adoption into a family of their own. Beginning September 15 they try to find advocates for each child. It seemed like too much.

Saving His Sparrows: February 2015
http://savinghissparrows.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Hang me on your tree - Micah. Friday, February 13, 2015. Your Daddy's bear hugs. And your Mama's snuggles? And smiles of pride and approval directed your way? Do you remember the security of knowing that no matter what might happen. Your family would always be there for you? Do you remember those carefree days. When you could run and play without having to worry. About whether there would be enough food to satisfy your hunger after a long day of playing? If so little Sullivan. Would call you privileged.
