An umbrella for today. 在東帝汶時，時不時就會在人們的高談闊論中聽見 "Maubere"，尤其是在那些身後彷彿燒著一把火的行動家口中，更常不經意的聽見，他們總是談的眉飛色舞。實際上在葡萄牙統治時期｢Maubere｣這辭是上層階級用以貶低貧窮、骯髒的下層階級所用的歧視語言。那一大堆身無分文、不識之無的當地土著男的全叫｢Maubere｣，女的則稱｢Buibere｣，半斤八兩。在那段受壓迫的時代｢Maubere｣意識成為一種社會認同，在東帝汶這個地雖小文化及語言卻非常多元的小島上萃煉出一種凝聚力。絕大多數的東帝汶人以身為｢Maubere｣為傲，因為雖然他們窮雖然他們身處社會低階，他們以自己的模樣為榮，且他們是這塊地的主人。如今離那劇烈震撼的1999已有11年之久，那群過去被壓在社會底層的｢Maubere｣如今作主了，仍有人冷言冷語。我聽過有許多人事不關己地評論東帝汶人難馴，到頭來獨立過後國家的經濟不振，未來是福是禍都未可知。我記得很清楚。你是笑著說的，用清澈的眼神告訴我的。你一定從來就不知道，你真的很不簡單。訂閱：文章 (Atom).
