FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND: November 2014
http://fromrecoverytobeyond.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND. Because there is always something beyond. Saturday, 29 November 2014. These are a few of my favorite things. My name is Dave and I am a kit nerd! There, I've said it, it feels good to get that off my chest. A new item of kit is like knocking 5 minutes off your race time. This is still a relatively new sport to me and I keep discovering shiny bits of kit that I don't yet own - child, sweety shop, etc. Skechers Go Run Ultra shoes. Ultimate Direction Signature Series race vests.
FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND: Playing in the hills
http://fromrecoverytobeyond.blogspot.com/2014/12/playing-in-hills.html
FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND. Because there is always something beyond. Saturday, 6 December 2014. Playing in the hills. For a while, I have been planning to go out for a play in the hills, take the video camera and spend a bit of time setting up some nice shots so I could put together a video just showing off the trails around Keswick. Last Sunday morning was the perfect day to do this, so I set off round Latrigg and the Glenderaterra Loop, just to see what I could come up with. Posted by Dave T.

FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND. Because there is always something beyond. Friday, 31 July 2015. Lakeland 100 race report. I had some great recce runs on the route (with John, Jonny, Marco and Rick) and felt really well prepared physically and confident in my ability to run the whole route without need to look at a map. Myself, John and Jonny pre-start. Photo Rick williams. Then suddenly I found myself on the start line. Time to put this plan into action. Issues started to sort themselves out on the leg as a few...

FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND: Sum fings wot I have lernt
http://fromrecoverytobeyond.blogspot.com/2015/05/sum-fings-wot-i-have-lernt.html
FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND. Because there is always something beyond. Wednesday, 20 May 2015. Sum fings wot I have lernt. I've been walking around with a sheet of paper for a while now, trying to write down a few bits of advice that I wish I had known 5 years ago when I had my first go at ultra trail running. For someone who has been running and racing in one format or another for over 30 years, it would be easy to assume I'd got my head around every eventuality and knew every trick in the book - WRONG!

: then stop: Run New Jersey
http://then-stop.blogspot.com/2013/01/run-new-jersey.html
Some stuff about trail running and avoiding bears in New Jersey. Sunday, 20 January 2013. Lifetime miles on NJ trails = 27; bears seen = zero. Long may it continue that way. After the trail run in the morning I felt like a relaxing afternoon so caught a train for the one hour ride into NYC for my first every visit to the city - I couldn't help but swear involuntarily as I walked out of Penn Station onto the streets of New York for the first time. What a place. Posted by Ali Bryan-Jones.

Some stuff about trail running and avoiding bears in New Jersey. Tuesday, 26 June 2012. West Highland Way Race 2012.almost. Most of the ultrarunners I know have some sort of mantra, something that they will repeat to themselves to encourage them to carry on running when energy levels are low and everything hurts. Some of the mantras are straight to the point, like Karin McKendrick’s “K.F.G.”, which I refuse to believe stands for “Karin feels good”. I had no energy and was very dehydrated. As soon as I st...

Some stuff about trail running and avoiding bears in New Jersey. Monday, 30 September 2013. Ramapo Mountain Madness 2013 - New Jersey's toughest wee ultra. It's now six months since we moved to New Jersey from Scotland. We live about an hour north west of NYC, not far from where the suburbs stop and the mountains begin. They are modest mountains, less than 1,500ft high, but steep and rugged enough to make for scenic views and challenging ultra marathon courses. Posted by Ali Bryan-Jones. Oh, and welcome ...

Some stuff about trail running and avoiding bears in New Jersey. Saturday, 16 February 2013. A run in the woods - Harriman State Park. After some more great views of the surrondng mountains and forest, and of Manhattan, I ran the last couple of kilometres back to the car park down a gentle downhill snow covered trail. There can't be many better ways to finish a run. Posted by Ali Bryan-Jones. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). No time for Tourists on the UTMB. FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND. Trails, cake and wine.

Some stuff about trail running and avoiding bears in New Jersey. Tuesday, 22 May 2012. City of Perth Barefoot 10k. Today I ran in the first City of Perth Barefoot 10k, a rather low key and intimate race held on the grass of the North Inch in Perth at lunchtime. The race route consisted of 25 and a bit laps of the North Inch cricket oval, with the grass having been recently cut, though not specially for the race. It was a great event to have run in and I look forward to the next one - I guess the field wi...

Nick Ham - long distance runner. Saturday, 27 June 2015. Western States 100 week Thu 25th. After the welcome we hiked to Emigrant Pass for the brief ceremony at noon. I joined WS volunteer 'UltrAlena' Hansen to share the flag carrying. Alena will be volunteering at Rucky-Chucky nearside this year. On the way up we breathed the dust of heavy construction vehicles as they climbed to chair lift construction works. A big crane that reminds me of Jez. A cement mixer kicks up the dust. Here are the day's photos.

FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND
FROM RECOVERY TO BEYOND. Because there is always something beyond. Friday, 15 December 2017. Camelbak Circuit Vest review. For the majority of this year, I have been using Camelbak packs and bottles; I’ve always liked the look of the packs but have steered away in the past as I’ve used bottles and wasn’t keen on the idea of using a bladder. All that changed earlier in the year when Camelbak UK provided me with one of their new Ultra Pro race vests. Instead there is a double strap which can be adjusted on...

From Red to Black. Primal Capitalism in a Socialist Republic. American politics and Vietnam today. With tags American Politics. On July 16, 2009 by fromred2black. This isn’t really about Vietnam but is kind of my formal exit from politics… Until that nonsense pulls me back in. Here in Vietnam no one talks about politics, probably because there is little they could do about it anyway. But is there really anything Americans can do about politics? At least in the long run? It is now a high rise office/condo...

From Red Deer With Love
From Red Deer With Love. Thursday, August 18, 2011. Farewell, Red Deer. This will be short and sweet. I don't like long goodbyes. In fact I don't even like short goodbyes. I prefer a "see-ya'-later", or "until next time". In the past couple days I've found myself saying more often, "We WILL see each other again! Friday, August 12, 2011. Lloydminster and the Pysanka. When we were in Lloydminster. There were four large red markers at the border that we visited. The town, I learned, existed before provincia...
