From the Fabricator- Glass & Aluminum Insights

From the Fabricator- Glass and Aluminum Insights. Sunday, March 25, 2018. While the volatility on the financial markets continue I am still constantly monitoring the different indexes that track construction related activities and also talking with folks every day about the “real time” feel for the market place. From the index side, the latest Architectural Billings Index (ABI) continued to show positivity. That is something to watch. Backlogs for 4Q and 1Q2019 are not where many want them to be either, ...

From the Fabricator- Glass & Aluminum Insights: March 2015

http://fromthefabricator.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

From the Fabricator- Glass and Aluminum Insights. Saturday, March 21, 2015. There was a mix of economic related news that populated my twitter feed this week. First the good news, where on a link. From Conners Sales (@ConnersSales) any initial fears about the awful housing starts number from last month were calmed. Basically the analyst called it “winter” and said to wait another month. That’s good enough for me. Then the bad news came up via Ted Bleecker (@TedBleecker) with a story on the scary debt.

From the Fabricator- Glass & Aluminum Insights: May 2015

http://fromthefabricator.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

From the Fabricator- Glass and Aluminum Insights. Sunday, May 31, 2015. No Worry On Decline. Yet. Is there cause for concern after the latest Architectural Billings Index fell again this past month? The headlines surely give you pause, but when you dig into the report, it does not look as negative as you may think. The “New Projects” rating was positive again as was the “Design Contracts” index. Plus the winter weather may have left a bit of hangover when it comes to the overall performance. And it&#8217...

From the Fabricator- Glass & Aluminum Insights: April 2015

http://fromthefabricator.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

From the Fabricator- Glass and Aluminum Insights. Sunday, April 26, 2015. Basically April is now in the books and 2015 is just screaming along. I can’t believe we are four months in already. Of the stories I have been monitoring, the biggest being the capacity tightening of glass continues to be the most interesting. Some pockets of North America have been affected more than others, and with this cold, bizarre spring about to morph into a hot summer, we’ll see how things hold up. The one cool thing?

From the Fabricator- Glass & Aluminum Insights: December 2014

http://fromthefabricator.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

From the Fabricator- Glass and Aluminum Insights. Sunday, December 14, 2014. With this being my last “scheduled” blog of the year, it’s a great opportunity to look back at 2014 and review our world some. The big take away for me is that this is the year the industry came back. While not everyone is swamped, I would say most are experiencing their best performances in a quite a while. That is truly a relief, as I know there were some people riding this storm out wondering if it will ever come to an end.

From the Fabricator- Glass and Aluminum Insights. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Industry MVP- The Runners Up. So it’s time for our annual look at who is the most valuable player (MVP) in the glass and glazing industry for 2014. There are quite a few great candidates but they’ll be only one winner. So here goes, the runners up for the “2014 From the Fabricator Glass and Glazing MVP.”. John Wheaton- Wheaton and Sprague-. Great interest in the industry and its future. Rick Wright- Oldcastle BE. DEBlog : On the Road with USGlass. Thursday, February 19, 2009. It’s Always Something …. It’s tough when you’ve been there at the beginning and now you are there at the end. But the best thing about the Auto Glass Conference has never been the seminars or the show; it’s always been the people you see there. Twenty years ago, it provided a way for the industry (which had always played second fiddle to the architectural glass industry) to converge around common issues at one location. Times change, industr...

Entrepreneur Corner: September 2009

Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Coach Pete's Advice for This Season. Football Season is in full swing – and I had a rough weekend. All my teams lost and made some major mistakes. So, what lessons can we learn in the glazing business? Those of you who might have followed this blog for awhile might remember that I am a Cleveland Browns fan. Yes, I am one of the abused. You remember the Browns? Then, the team comes back. And goes through 5 coaches. And 13 starting quarterbacks. 1) Change just to change.

Mommy's Perspective

Life through the eyes of this mommy. Thursday, July 13, 2017. Having a baby changes everything…. DUH! As if we didn’t all know THAT one! There is a specified length of time after having a baby that I affectionately refer to as “survival.” For twins, that allotted time of survival is at least a year! 8230;… SIDE NOTE…. Having our 5 kids in the house…. I feel like survival mode may last for the next 18 years…. But that’s for another post…. In a house full of children, the quiet is hard to come by. I ei...
