From the high seas - etc. Now we've been back from Hawaii for awhile. We got a dog. I still haven't written a thing. Let's wait for the rain and see if i can get bitten by the muse. What happened to Mexico? Lets pray for rain and if the muse doesnt show, Id be happy to sit in for a quick bite! Well, Mexico DID happen. You write about that! The other crazy idea. Well, we might settle for Hadrian's wall in the UK first. to practice. and something more local and equaly gorgeous right here in the US. Got ski...

From the high seas - etc. Next adventure in the planning. Stay tuned for: Alaska: the inside passage, coming this summer! Which would nearly complete Pacific crossing north to south. oh yeah! The other crazy idea. The last ocean, the unknown territory (or so we white landlubbers think) - we're thinking of the northwest passage. learning about the culture there and showing our son the ice before it melts and that place forever changes . we just need a boat! 44ft steel ketch, outfitted for ocean voyage.

From the High Country

From the High Country. Aug 17, 2015. Our weekend camping trip to the mountains north of Cody, towards Yellowstone. Dead Indian Pass on the Chief Joseph Highway. Pilot and Index, pretty distinguishable peaks. Getting crazy in the car. Camp is set up, let's go hike! Cash put a flower backwards behind his ear. Beartooth Butte is in the background, rising above Beartooth Lake. It's never too cold to swim! Our Grizzly bear sighting! This is where it stood up and watched two fishermen walk towards him. Lego pi...

From the High Dive

From the High Dive. Solo Camping for Two Nights: Doublin’ Down at Governor Dodge. June 18, 2012. This time I explored Governor Dodge in Iowa County and on my way to my site I saw this on the campground road. Right on, kids. I’m working on it. The first night I was not yet in the vacation mindset, still sort of reeling and not sure how to relax, but I found a feather and spent time checking out the wildflowers and then I heard a Veery. There was a sign at the park office about not feeding those rascals an...

Saturday, February 8, 2014. How to mourn, how to remember. After I shared my thoughts about miscarriage on this blog. And then after The Banner. Graciously printed my piece, I had several conversations with people who agreed that, yes, we need to do a better job at remembering those who are suffering the loss of a pregnancy. But then the question came up: how? It’s a good question. So how do we mourn with them, how do we remember? The loss they feel is real. And raw. Let’s get this one out of the w...
