The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead: November 2005
http://bajidance13.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead. At one point of conversation, my niece said something to the effect that her cousin (who is first generation born-American) said those Americans were acting so crazy buying up everything. My niece, who is also American born, was relaying a story about how funny it is to them how crazy people can act when shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I would be interested in hearing what anyone who might read this dull blog might have to say on this topic. Links to this post.

As I tire of the hard work where it seems that a weekend is hardly a blink of the eye, I ponder and recall the recent honeymoon. Memories I will cherish:. Wandering through the back alleys and witnessing Renaissance, Gothic and Romanesque influenced architecture all within one block. Visiting the Peggy Guggenheim Museum and then my amazing self-disc...

The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead. Ethics of Photojournalism and Boycott. Today, I had the privilege of attending a very interesting lecture. While enjoying my time OFF work, I have been challenging myself to use my time wisely and actually do some things that I claim I would do "if only I had the time. So now I have the time, there should be no excuses to waste it away. But, I decided to stay and I am glad that I did. What do you think about showing dead bodies? Or, is it too insensitive? I think like...

The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead. I'm a Suburban SAHW Groupie. DH is only in his late twenties and he seems to be experiencing something of a mid-life crisis. He is trying to capture some of his youth before it slips away. Some could argue that it is mid-life for him because it seems as though he was born 30 years old. Yesterday, we were out and about doing the weekend chore circuit. DH receives an annoying work related call which lasted about an hour (I just love when this happens and I get to si...

The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead. Nice to meet you Muslim, I mean M'aam. Where do I begin? The staffs as I said earlier are an amazingly diverse and hard-working group. I have had the positive experience of sitting down with each person and having a one-on-one meeting. The great thing about working in a social service field is that we can celebrate diversity and one’s personal accomplishments and unique experiences that they bring to the work place. Upon just hearing my last name. Presumably, usin...

The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead. A Name Does Not Tell the Whole Story. During our Shadi, Ammi was introducing me to a woman who was a friend of the family. The woman asked Ammi, What is her name? In English as if I wasn’t standing right there.) Ammi replies with my name and the woman says. Well then she is not a muslim. How rude! I was more offended for my MIL and hurt that I was being judged this way after all of the compromises I had made. Who was she to say what my beliefs were? Links to this post.

The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead. Unis or Hijras were traditionally hermaphrodites cast out of society. Today, many are gay transvestites. Homosexuality is strictly forbidden, but somehow men dressing as women is acceptable and pitied. Also, some of these men were castrated boys that were victims of cult-like violence or punished for being found guilty of a homexual act. The Baji Dance - She Takes the Lead. A strong, passionate woman. To have the courage to move to the next phase of my life. To feel more comfortable about the politics of Islam. Staying up all hours of the night sharing desires and philosophical thoughts with my best friend/husband. I hear I am not? I hear I am? Often as a way to cleanse and replenish my soul. I am not always? I make with my hands? To document and communicate. Blogging with having a life. (stole this one right under koonj’s feet! I am so ...
