My food projects in the city. Laquo; Real BBQed Chicken. Easter Brunch at 5 Horses Tavern. SuperBowl Brisket Pics with the New Camera. Posted February 9, 2013 by natethegreek in Uncategorized. God Damn Ravens. Congrats Laura! This was almost too big for my massive cutting board. It came our really well and it is amazing the difference the camera makes in the quality of the pictures. This was almost the last of the bacon I made so we are going to need another batch pretty soon. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

My food projects in the city. Laquo; Pulled Pork for Week 8. Posted October 29, 2012 by natethegreek in Food. CJ found the coolest little recipe a year or so ago–basically, you take a wonton wrapper and shove it in a muffin tin, then fill it with something awesome. Add cheese, put in another layer of awesome sauce, and then more cheese. Bake for a while at 350 and you get savory cupcakes. The idea came from Emily Bites. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. My food projects in the city. Laquo; New Camera expect more pictures…. SuperBowl Brisket Pics with the New Camera. Posted January 31, 2013 by natethegreek in Food. Alright so I have been working on ways to use chicken legs and thighs mostly because they are really really cheap, and it is a nice change of pace from chicken breast. Anyway I have found the easiest way to make pulled chicken. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. SuperBow...

I put them overnight in a brine and then let them out on a wire rack for a few hours in the fridge. The fridge will get them nice and draw which will allow the rub to really stick. 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar. 2 teaspoons kosher salt. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon onion powder. Rub with the above spice rub and oil. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. SuperBowl...

The Caustic Critic: June 2014
http://causticritic.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
I have opinions, dammit. Friday, June 6, 2014. CBR6 #13: Haunted House by John Kilborn. A quarter Cannonball done. halfway to my low-bar goal for the year! I didn't realize that this was a sequel to several other books by Jack Kilborn until after I was well into it, but that didn't keep me from enjoying the story (it just made me want to go find those books now, too! I'd recommend this one to people who like well-written horror, and plan to find the books that come before (and after) this one soon!
The Caustic Critic: New Year, Innit? (Intensive Navel-Gazing Ahead: Proceed With Caution)

I have opinions, dammit. Sunday, January 11, 2015. New Year, Innit? Intensive Navel-Gazing Ahead: Proceed With Caution). So 2014 was a pretty eventful year. The main thing that happened is that after nearly eleven years together, The Boyfriend and I split up. I will not pretend that this was "mutual" - he was the one who decided to call it quits - but I will say that I am coming to believe that this was the right move for everyone involved. Boston Dyke March Organizational meeting? To sum up ("Finally!
The Caustic Critic: November 2014
http://causticritic.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
I have opinions, dammit. Wednesday, November 12, 2014. CBR6 #16: Dead Sea by Tim Curran. I really wanted to like this book. It seems like it should be right up my alley: maritime disaster? Check Survival on the high seas and the idea that the other survivors are the real danger? Links to this post. CBR6 #15: Joyland by Stephen King. Although I love his massive epics like IT. I think where Stephen King shines the most is in his shorter fiction. At 283 pages, Joyland. If you enjoyed this review, be sure to...
The Caustic Critic: May 2014
http://causticritic.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
I have opinions, dammit. Tuesday, May 20, 2014. CBR6 #11: The Home by Scott Nicholson. Freeman Mills is a troubled kid. After bouncing around through a variety of foster homes and institutions, he finds himself at Wendover, yet another home. Unfortunately for Freeman, Wendover has a lot of secrets. Most of them are unpleasant. Some of them are dead. And for a kid with ESP, all of them are dangerous. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Medford, MA, United States. The Caustic Critic: Big Brother is Counting Your Steps
http://causticritic.blogspot.com/2015/01/big-brother-is-counting-your-steps.html
I have opinions, dammit. Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Big Brother is Counting Your Steps. So my work has given us all FitBits. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this yet. On the one hand, it's nice that they're concerned about our health and willing to shell out for this not-cheap device. On the other hand, there is a departmental "challenge" aspect to this that I did not actively agree to, and also a certain amount of implied weight policing I'm not sure I'm comfortable with. I appreciate the idea th...
The Caustic Critic: CBR6 #14: The Drought by Patricia Fulton
http://causticritic.blogspot.com/2014/11/cbr6-14-drought-by-patricia-fulton.html
I have opinions, dammit. Wednesday, November 12, 2014. CBR6 #14: The Drought by Patricia Fulton. Yes, I am in fact alive. Some things in my life went totally pear-shaped there for a while, but it has not stopped me from reading. (I can't say it's done anything for my motivation to write about what I'm reading, but that's sort of a lingering issue anyway.). Also, if you like book reviews, you should check out The Cannonball Read blog. Which is full of much better reviews than my sad little output here.
The Caustic Critic: CBR6 #15: Joyland by Stephen King
http://causticritic.blogspot.com/2014/11/cbr6-15-joyland-by-stephen-king.html
I have opinions, dammit. Wednesday, November 12, 2014. CBR6 #15: Joyland by Stephen King. Although I love his massive epics like IT. I think where Stephen King shines the most is in his shorter fiction. At 283 pages, Joyland. Is comparatively short, but it allows the story to unfold in a more focused way, and avoids some of the bloated tangents that- though I love them- can make the longer works drag a little. I have opinions, dammit. Thursday, January 22, 2015. CBR7 #1: NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. Cannonball Read #7 has BEGUN! My first book is Joe Hill's NOS4A2. Which was received as a gift in the CBR Book Exchange this year. I was extremely excited, because I've been hearing really good things about this book, and I really enjoyed Hill's Heart Shaped Box. The plot moved along pretty quickly, and at no point did I find the book dragging. It was quite a page-turner, and I was happy to be along for the ride. I'm not en...
The Caustic Critic: February 2015
http://causticritic.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
I have opinions, dammit. Friday, February 20, 2015. CBR7 #2: Ramona's Home by Lawrence Bassett. The first thing I have to admit up front is that this book was written by my all-time favorite high school English teacher, so I am a little bit biased. The man was (and still is, I assume) wonderful, smart, hilarious, and also completely insane. I totally adored him. For more book reviews, be sure to check out The Cannonball Read Blog. My food projects in the city. Easter Brunch at 5 Horses Tavern. Posted by natethegreek in Food. So Jacob talked me into coming to this place, and I am glad I tried to. He told me about a item on the brunch menu that is a biscuit with fried chicken, two sunny side up eggs and the whole thing is covered in sausage gravy. How could I say no? It was pretty good, the gravy has quite a bit of thyme in it and enjoyed it. The biscuit was a little tough but with the sausage gravy the whole thing was fantastic.
