Mark Harrison's Art Blog: March 2015
http://markharrison.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 30 March 2015. New article in Artists and Illustrators magazine. I have a one page article in the May 2015 issue of Artists and Illustrators magazine called "Small Quick Works". Slightly awkward title about painting small pictures in a strict two-day time limit and includes a short step-by-step progress through a small painting. Jet - stage 4. Labels: Work in progress. Friday, 27 March 2015. Jet - stage 3. Worked on most areas today before I go away for a couple of days, back on Sunday. Mostly fi...

Mark Harrison's Art Blog: October 2014
http://markharrison.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 27 October 2014. A young woman serenely floats above a deserted city street. She seems asleep, probably dreaming. Is this her dream? Is she moving towards the far end of the street where it seems to abruptly end and enters the land of nightmares or is she moving away from a nightmare into the morning light of a new day, possibly hopeful but where is everyone? Is the light on her face coming from her bedside light? Saturday, 25 October 2014. Dreamer - stage 11. Labels: Work in progress. Should hop...

Mark Harrison's Art Blog: Nénuphar - stage 4
http://markharrison.blogspot.com/2015/08/nenuphar-stage-4.html
Monday, 10 August 2015. Nénuphar - stage 4. Have got most of the picture done now, it just leaves the bottom of the painting to sort out and then I need to paint some glazes over various areas to intensify the colours a bit as the white that I have used in the mixes has made the colours slightly chalky. Mark Harrison's Art Blog: December 2014
http://markharrison.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 December 2014. Talking Dolls - stage 2. Put down some colour today and yes it looks a bit of a mess at the moment! It is a very colourful building so by putting all this colour in it gives me a good idea about how to harmonise it together although the point of the picture is still the riot of colour and typography that attracted me to paint it in the first place. This will hopefully be a useful underpainting that I can work with. Labels: Work in progress. Monday, 29 December 2014. I have just...

Mark Harrison's Art Blog: August 2015
http://markharrison.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, 30 August 2015. The Mosque Of Wadi Mektoub. Due to the good response to "Departure Of The Bash Kadin" and due to it selling so early I felt that it would make sense to paint a similar one as I felt that "Bash Kadin" could have sold to another collector at the upcoming Illuxcon where this painting is heading. Oil on canvas 19 3/4" x 19 3/4". A step-by-step progress through this painting can be found in previous posts on this blog. Friday, 28 August 2015. The Mosque Of Wadi Mektoub - stage 7. Paint...

Mark Harrison's Art Blog: July 2015
http://markharrison.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 31 July 2015. Sanctuary Of The Sun - stage 4. A little difficult to see here, but I have taken some of the yellow out of the sky and replaced it with an orangey pink which helps to make the sun more yellow. I then used the same orange/pink in the mist over the hills behind before roughly working over most of the painting to knock into the shape that I imagine in my mind. Labels: Work in progress. Thursday, 30 July 2015. Sanctuary Of The Sun - stage 3. Labels: Work in progress. Sunday, 26 July 2015.
