http://caroscookbook.blogspot.com/2012/06/gratitude-part-3-finale.html
Saturday, June 9, 2012. Gratitude, Part 3 (Finale! Floating down a crystal clear river in a canoe is one of my all time favorite pastimes. I'm spending most of July in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan and plan to do a lot of floating (and paddling) down some beautiful northern rivers. I can't wait to be up north! In the meantime, here's a recipe that draws on the shape of my favorite little boat. Adapted from The New Moosewood Cookbook. 2 tbsp. olive oil. 1 1/2 c. red onion (minced). Add the rice, almon...

Caro's Cookbook: March 2011
http://caroscookbook.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Today I realized something. As stressed out as I may get, and as crazy as some parts of my life seem, deep down, I remain an optimist. Phew - Im glad! So, tonight, embracing the spirit of spring, I decided to do a bit of spring cleaning. No, I did not pull out the vacuum or scrub the bathroom tiles. Tonight was spring cleaning for my freezer. After a little bit of rummaging, I found a bag of frozen rhubarb from last summer. Perfect! Happy spring, friends! Friday, March 18, 2011.

Thursday, November 3, 2011. Vegan Soul Food, part 2. View from the apartment window - a departure from the usual clear sunny fall days weve been having in KC this fall. I love fall. Its my favorite season by far. The clear blue Midwestern skies, the crisp and vibrant leaves and the cool breezes catch me by surprise and flood my senses with beauty every year. Im also a fan of fall because I love the bounty of the fall harvest. Wednesday, November 2, 2011. Vegan Soul Food, part 1. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sunday, August 5, 2012. Orange Juice and Other Ramblings. While visiting a fellow foodie friend of mine in Michigan, our conversation led to the somewhat recent controversy surrounding the processing and marketing of store bought orange juice. You know, the kind that you buy at the supermarket in cartons, advertised as "pure" or "natural", usually with a picture of some beautiful looking oranges or a farmers gloved hand delivering a glass of refreshing juice. Since I use the juice mainly as an ingredient...

These are both simple dishes that I make pretty regularly. In true Edward Espe Brown. Fashion, I've written these recipes more like guidelines. Both incorporate a variation of my favorite flavor, sour, adding a fresh twist to these familiar veggies. 1-3 lbs. fresh asparagus, tough ends removed. 1-3 tbsp. water. 1-3 tbsp. olive oil. Saturday, August 27, 2011. The past three weeks have been a hectic whirlwind of lectures, trying to stay caught up, laundry piles growing out of control, studying, studying, and more studying! I took my first midterm on Monday - it was scary simply because I had no idea what to expect. My dads mantra applied to this midterm, as it applies to most challenges in my life: put your mind to it, and you will do great. Saturday, August 13, 2011. Saturday, August 6, 2011.
