............... I dream in fuchsia ...............: May 2011

http://www.fuchsiadreams.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

I dream in fuchsia . Black and white is never enough . I was thinking that the reason I haven't been quilting was because I've been so busy doing other crafty things and reading a lot. Maybe not. I sat out in my living room for like an hour earlier trying to pick a project to work on and NOTHING appealed to me. At least not any projects that are in progress. Many of them are held up in one stage or another (mostly finished tops), and nothing is getting done. Links to this post. Labels: i need to move.

I dream in fuchsia . Black and white is never enough . You can kinda see it in this photo:. Anyway, it's been labor intensive to say the least. But I love it so much. I can't wait until it's finished and on my bed. Links to this post. There are a few reasons why I don't blog regularly. One involves me being super unproductive, another is that I'm in a serious funk. This week I finished one of the projects that has been hanging over my head like a cloud, the butterfly baby quilt. ............... I dream in fuchsia ...............: A finish!

http://www.fuchsiadreams.blogspot.com/2012/04/finish.html

I dream in fuchsia . Black and white is never enough . I've been busy working on a top secret project lately: a quilt for one of my sisters for her birthday! This is the first quilt I've made for anyone in my family other than a wall hanging I made for my mom, so I was really excited to give it to her. My sister Michelle has got a great eye for color and design and has a gorgeously decorated house, so I also was a little nervous to make something for her. I'm happy to report that she loved it! Terrain is...

http://www.fuchsiadreams.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

I dream in fuchsia . Black and white is never enough . Handmade Christmas, part 1. Once again I tried as much as I could to make homemade gifts for my friends and family this year for Christmas. I don't know if it was that I was lazy, disorganized, busy or waited too long to start, but I was working on stuff up until the early hours of Christmas morning. Ugh! I really, really have to do better next year. Anyway, I made a couple cool projects this year. Now I totally want to make some more characters.

the polish quilter: Michigan Blue

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2014/07/michigan-blue.html

Thursday, July 10, 2014. I'm in love with this quilt. It was tough to give away but fortunately, it was for a good cause. My cousin, Aaron, and his lovely fiance, Jenn, are getting married in August so of course, I wanted to make them a lovely creation. I asked Jenn to pick out a color scheme and pattern. She definitely gravitated toward squares within squars. As for colors, she said that they liked blues. I had purchased a fat bundle of awesome Lotta Jansdotter Glimma. the polish quilter: Updates

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/updates.html

Wednesday, July 1, 2015. I was updating my quilting log and realized I've made 119 over the past 16 years. I have 7 WIP's and three of those are tops that need to be quilted. Here are two:. Since I'm on a fabric diet, I've been working on random projects to use up scraps. I tried wavy piecing (which isn't as fun as I thought):. I also tried some paper piecing. It takes practice, especially since I taught myself. But I enjoyed the few blocks I made:. It's fun to have different projects to work on. I've be...

the polish quilter: Bridesmaid to Baby

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/bridesmaid-to-baby.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. My friend, Jen, recently asked me to make a baby quilt for her to give to her friend who is expecting. Jen was a bridesmaid in her friends wedding so she wondered if I could make a quilt from the bridesmaid dress that she wore. I was a little unsure - the dress was made of chiffon and satin - but decided to give it a try. Jen picked out the following pattern, taken from Pinterest. I didn't think about taking a photo of the actual dress before I cut it up. Doh.). The textured fabri...

the polish quilter: Family Jewels

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/family-jewels.html

Monday, June 29, 2015. I always enjoy working on quilt projects WITH family members FOR family members. Over the winter, my mom and I made a wedding quilt for my cousin, Steve, and his bride-to-be, Ellen. They requested green and jewel tones. We decided on this pattern from Pinterest. (We didn't have the actual pattern but it was pretty easy to replicate.). The back was teech too short but luckily we had leftover blocks. I love the look of pieced backs. Labels: it was a geeks wedding. When I started blog...

the polish quilter: Rainbow Block of the Month

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/rainbow-block-of-month.html

Monday, June 29, 2015. Rainbow Block of the Month. It seems like I have many quilting books but rarely do I ever make something from one of their patterns. I tend to lean toward more modern looking quilts as well as improvisational quilts and the quilts in the books that I have are really boring. Don't get me wrong. there are a lot of really cool books out there. I just don't own many.). Perhaps its time to update my library.). AND I'M SO GLAD I DID! I love, love, love it! Thanks for stopping by! I've be...

the polish quilter: Finally! A Finish...

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2009/11/finally-finish.html

Friday, November 6, 2009. The Purdue quilt is finally finished. Just in time to take it's place with all the other silent auction items at the fundraising event. I did a pieced backing with zig zag quilting. In the spirit of the quilt, I decided to take it's picture on campus. Since I'll never see it again, I made sure to get proper pictures. I'm getting better about documenting my work. I had enjoyed making this quilt, especially because of AmandaJean's easy tutorial. I'm ready to start my next one!

the polish quilter: Bar Keep T-Shirt Quilt

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2014/09/bar-keep-t-shirt-quilt.html

Friday, September 26, 2014. Bar Keep T-Shirt Quilt. So the buyer of the Diabetes T-shirt. Quilt commissioned me to do another project for her. She is a bartender and when working, she wears t-shirts that are appropriate for the bar setting. She's must be pretty well known for her t-shirts because she even has customers that give her shirts to wear. I solved that problem by adding a piano key border. I think the end result was great. Most importantly, I had another satisfied customer. Finished Quilts of 2...

the polish quilter: IU Chevron

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/iu-chevron.html

Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Since moving to Bloomington and working at Indiana University, the amount of red in my house has quadrupled! So it's only fitting that I actually started collecting red fabric to go along with everything else red in my life. I've been collecting some true red (aka red, red) fat quarters for a few years and wasn't sure what to do with the material. Unfortunately, it's impossible to get IU themed fabric (trust me, I've tried! From a few years ago.). Thanks for stopping by! If you ...

the polish quilter: Black and White Block Exchange

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2013/07/black-and-white-block-exchange.html

Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Black and White Block Exchange. Back in 2009, our Covered in Threads quilt guild organized our very first block exchange. One of our members had participated in a block and white block exchange with another group of quilters so we thought this would be a great way to get started on what has become an annual challenge. Here are the blocks I completed for the exchange. We finished the quilt this weekend. I'm glad we fixed the borders! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). When I start...

the polish quilter: The Stars Align

http://polishquilter.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-stars-align.html

Tuesday, April 1, 2014. When I first jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon, I saw a quilt block. That I loved, loved, loved from Ellison Lane Quilts. I finally got around to making my own quilt with this starflower block. (Which is more than I can say for most of the other quilts I've pinned! I just looked at the above photo and realized how awesome my piecing looks. Go me! I feel like a grown up quilter.). I made several blocks and laid out the quilt. Of course, it's never quite as big as you want. I've bee...
