Rushtayeh: A Traditional Dish of Lentils and Noodles | Fulbright Feasting
https://fulbrightfeasting.wordpress.com/2013/03/08/rushtayeh-a-traditional-dish-of-lentils-and-noodles
Recipes from amman .:. March 8, 2013. Rushtayeh: A Traditional Dish of Lentils and Noodles. Is made with homemade noodles. Since that can be quite time-consuming, I substitute regular packaged pasta and it works excellently. However, I’m including the recipe for the noodles at the bottom of the post, in case you’d prefer to make them yourself :) And again, most of the quantities here are approximations; I always eyeball all the ingredients when I make it. 1 medium onion, thinly sliced in half-circles.

Recipes from amman .:. March 17, 2012. Layali Libnaan with Strawberries. I recently made some Layali Libnaan, an incredibly tasty dessert with a semolina pudding base, topped with fresh cream, pistachios, and fruit, then drizzled with sugar syrup to taste. Because the pudding and cream are not sweetened, this recipe is great for people who are trying to control their sugar intake. I originally posted the recipe here. This is probably the easiest dessert I know how to make, and it looks so pretty :).

Recipes from amman .:. August 17, 2012. Ramadan Desserts: ‘Atayif. Ramadan is almost over and we’re ending it this year with a sweet treat called. Spice* into the batter, two things I really love (major credit goes to Khalto M. for recipe help)! Spice, made from the ground seed kernels of a particular variety of cherry, is used in lots of Middle Eastern cuisines to give baked goods and desserts a special flavor. For me, the signature smell of. Flip over and cook on the “bubbly” side! Cover the cooked pan...

Tomatoes 'n' blue cheese. On March 1, 2010. The man held up two fingers, one for each of his wives. Next, he held the tip of his index finger and shook it. 8220;She’s paralyzed, the waist down, can’t move. Go, bring your mother,” he instructed one of the children. They didn’t believe us, I don’t think, for they kept asking if we’d taken their names down and if the help would know their address when it arrived. Pheasants and chickens, also eager to avoid the rain, shared the small canopy with us. With...

Tomatoes 'n' blue cheese. Sprinkled throughout my posts will be cryptic signals. Much as I might like to think myself privy to a cult culture, these are not codes for a secret tomato society or anything. (But, then again, can you take my word for it? Here’s the breakdown:. AA alhamdulillah thank God (give credit where credit is due). IA insha’Allah God willing (I don’t command the future; He does). MA masha’Allah wow (or, literally, whatever God wills). SA subhanAllah glory be to God ( synonymous with mA).

Tomatoes 'n' blue cheese. On March 14, 2010. It was Valentine’s Day and I, of course, was at UJ, going door to door in pursuit of happiness and, more immediately, a college email address. As I climbed the millionth stair, I saw a girl there, on the floor up above. Our eyes met. We smiled. I doubt it was love. I asked her a question. She didn’t know. Was I not from here? And I thought, does it show? America, I said to unwonted applause. She gasped, clapped, laughed without pause. And how did you meet?

Recipes from amman .:. May 30, 2013. Offal That Isn’t So Awful At All. For hearts, I make little slits in them and remove any congealed blood that’s inside. An easier way to do this is to just cut each one in half, but if I have the time, I like to try and maintain their shape by keeping them whole. Just like with the gizzards, I rinse them in cold water, soak them in lemon juice, and re-rinse. And did I mention this recipe is literally done in 20 minutes? Can substitute Seven Spice mix or allspice).
