melon sorbet + peach cashew shortbread bars | Simmer Seasonal Recipes

Green rice with rock cod and creamy lemon yogurt. Melon sorbet peach cashew shortbread bars. August 22, 2014. It’s a two for one recipe day today and there’s zero connection here, save for the summer fruit and some excitement on my part. First up: the sorbet. I just enjoyed a frosty scoop topped with a generous pour of vodka and a squeeze of lime. Highly recommended. It has been a loooong week in these parts. The sorbet here was born out of an over-abundance of melons from our CSA. Combine the melon, sug...

Locavore on Core: Lucy has made her debut!
http://locavoreoncore.blogspot.com/2008/08/lucy-has-made-her-debut.html
Eating Local on Weight Watchers. Friday, August 22, 2008. Lucy has made her debut! I'm thrilled to announce that our baby girl, Lucy, was born on Tuesday night after a very manageable labor and only five minutes of pushing! She's healthy and is fitting right into our family - loud voice, lots of snuggling, and a huge appetite. Big brother Jax keeps asking to hold and kiss her, and is trying to share all of his toys - I'm appreciating it while it lasts. Thanks for the kind e-mails asking about us. Goal We...

Eating Local on Weight Watchers. Sunday, July 27, 2008. One for dinner, one more for the freezer. Tonight we're having another of my endless variations on beans and grains, Spanish-style barley with Scarlett Runners, and with that mixture I'm stuffing bell peppers for another freezer-friendly post-baby dinner. Spanish-style barley with Scarlett Runner beans. 1 T olive oil. 1 onion, diced. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 stalk celery, diced. 1 carrot, diced. 1 zucchini, diced. 1 T chili powder. 1 1/2 t cumin.

Locavore on Core: November 2007

Eating Local on Weight Watchers. Friday, November 30, 2007. Turkey, sweet potato, and apple hash with greens. Dinner last night was a delightful use-up dish for leftover turkey. The sweetness of the sweet potato and apple matched nicely with the savory turkey, and deglazing the pan with white wine added an extra subtle yumminess to it. I served it with sauteed Swiss chard for a delicious Core meal. It also made for tasty leftovers. Turkey, sweet potato, and apple hash. 1/2 cup fat free yogurt. Non-stick)...

Locavore on Core: September 2008
http://locavoreoncore.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Eating Local on Weight Watchers. Sunday, September 7, 2008. Daily Menu for September 7. We've been eating up the frozen meals this week - eggplant and pork, moussaka, and bean soup - and tonight we're having meatloaf from the freezer. I'm grateful that I made these in advance! Still trying to get in all the 8 good health guidelines but it's more of a struggle right now, since I don't want to be in the hot kitchen any more than I have to, and I'm too tired to cook! Breakast (a OneLocalSummer meal). Total ...

What’s in your box? Growing vegetables in the Wine Country. August 9, 2016. This is the time of year that everything happens at once. Not enough time for much beyond the farm. Turning to the needs in the field is sometimes the best way to cope with scary environmental and political news. Focus on the bounty and abundance can steer one toward generosity and hope. Planting lettuce has become much more precise and fun for the crew! These lettuces have been in the ground several weeks. Our Saturday Farm Stan...

What’s in your box? Growing vegetables in the Wine Country. February 27, 2015. I am amazed I have not posted in such a long time. I am sorry to jump over months of farm activity. Fava beans are blooming madly. This crop of artichokes is especially delicious. Hope you can get some at the market while they last, another month or so. Yesterday’s brassica planting. This crop of Red Butter Lettuce should be on our market stand next week. Second planting of peas. Paul is very busy this spring. June 1, 2014.
